Manchester has ranked as the second best city in England for pop music, according to a new survey.<\/p>\n
The ranking is based on an analysis of 50 European cities to find the most appealing destinations for music lovers.<\/p>\n
The top three cities in England for pop music were London, Manchester, and Liverpool, who placed first, 23rd, and 39th in Europe overall.<\/p>\n
The calculations took into account the average prices of concert and musical tickets and the number of nightclubs, open air festivals, and pop concert venues in each city.<\/p>\n
While London is ranked as number one for pop music in Europe, it is also the city where concert and musical tickets are among the most expensive.<\/p>\n
The average concert ticket in London costs \u00a3105 and the average musical ticket costs \u00a3109, while in Manchester these figures are significantly less \u2013 \u00a373 and \u00a380 respectively.<\/p>\n
The survey also found that concert tickets are 74% more expensive now than they were in 2011.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Omio, who conducted the survey, said: \u201cManchester stands out for its vibrant nightlife with around 30 clubs and a thriving underground scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cVenues like The Warehouse Project and Hidden offer electrifying nights filled with cutting-edge music and its one-of-a-kind atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n
Manchester is also the second best city in the country for fine music, with the city being home to three fine music venues, two fine music festivals, and six music pubs.<\/p>\n
England\u2019s best city for fine music is Liverpool, which placed 13th in Europe, compared to Manchester in 18th and London in 50th.<\/p>\n
An average opera ticket in Manchester costs \u00a345, which is less than half than London\u2019s average ticket price of \u00a3126.<\/p>\n
Europe\u2019s highest ranking city for fine music is Salzburg, Australia, where tourists can attend world-class performances at an average price of \u00a335 each.<\/p>\n
