It\u2019s a wild-sounding plan aimed at offsetting the emissions generated by Microsoft\u2019s booming <a class=\"hover:text-vertical-primary underline decoration-2 underline-offset-4 decoration-vertical-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dexerto.com\/tag\/ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI<\/a> empire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"w-full mb-4 text-body-6 md:text-body-5 font-body dark:text-neutral-white external:text-custom-content-text external:dark:text-custom-content-text\">According to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"hover:text-vertical-primary underline decoration-2 underline-offset-4 decoration-vertical-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/chloe-aiello\/microsofts-plan-to-go-green-bury-human-waste-underground\/91215509\">Inc<\/a>, the cost of removing a ton of CO2 using this method sits around $350. As per <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"hover:text-vertical-primary underline decoration-2 underline-offset-4 decoration-vertical-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tomshardware.com\/tech-industry\/artificial-intelligence\/microsoft-buys-more-than-a-billion-dollars-worth-of-excrement-including-human-poop-company-will-pump-waste-underground-to-offset-ai-carbon-emissions\">Tom\u2019s Hardware<\/a>, that would put Microsoft\u2019s deal north of $1.7 billion, though neither company confirmed the exact figure.<\/p>\n<p>Article continues after ad<\/p>\n<p class=\"w-full mb-4 text-body-6 md:text-body-5 font-body dark:text-neutral-white external:text-custom-content-text external:dark:text-custom-content-text\">\u201cGenerally, what happens to these wastes today is they go to a landfill, get dumped in a waterway, or they\u2019re just spread on land,\u201d said Vaulted Deep CEO Julia Reichelstein. \u201cIn all of those cases, they\u2019re decomposing into CO2 and methane. That\u2019s contributing to climate change. Microsoft\u2019s answer? Bury the problem, waste and all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"w-full mb-4 text-body-6 md:text-body-5 font-body dark:text-neutral-white external:text-custom-content-text external:dark:text-custom-content-text\">Microsoft isn\u2019t the only company buying poop, either.
