Trevor Green has sadly died at the age of 74 after a short illness. He was best known for his work on Granada Reports and ITV News.<\/p>\n

ITV newsreader Trevor Green has passed away at the age of 74. His wife Joanna shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook<\/a> last night, with Piccadilly Radio also releasing an emotional statement.<\/p>\n

Joanna’s statement read: “Trevor slipped away peacefully this morning in the early hours of what is today his 74th Birthday. He developed breathing probs last evening.<\/p>\n

“I’ve lost my soul mate and feel rather at sea. But thankfully he’s now out of pain and we’ve been blessed with lots of time in recent weeks and months to reminisce and shape his wishes. Sorry we couldn’t fix another visit…Taking quiet me-time out today to reflect on our 44 years together. Will miss him like mad. Let u know plans in due course.”<\/p>\n

Chris Moore, Trevor’s former colleague at Piccadilly Radio, commented: “Trevor and Jo fought his illness together in a way that I can only describe as humbling. I would not be able to come anywhere close.<\/p>\n

“He was one of the nicest, kindest, sharpest, wittiest, coolest and most professional people I ever had the honour to work, and that’s saying something.”, reports the Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“His marriage to Jo was something special too. She is a wonderful person who gave him everything for their whole life together.<\/p>\n

“A David Vear signing, he was part of a golden generation in a golden era of radio. Those who knew him will have their own stories and memories.<\/p>\n

“Suffice to say, we’ve lost another gem….God speed my friend.”<\/p>\n

Trevor left Granada Reports in 2006 to concentrate on his Vision Impact media consultancy business. He subsequently spent a number of years as a media relations officer at the local East Cheshire council.<\/p>\n

Rob McLoughlin also paid homage to him on X, remarking: “So sad to say goodbye to Trevor Green a stalwart of Granada Reports and ITV<\/a> news for many years.<\/p>\n

“A super journalist, reporter and colleague. Love to Jo and all his friends, family and fans. RIP Trevor.”<\/p>\n

Journalist Mark Owen remarked: “Green tie tonight in honour and memory of an old friend and colleague Trevor Green, who has passed away after illness.
