A man was brought to safety by boat<\/p>\n

Emergency services descended on the Pier Head this evening after a man fell into River Mersey<\/a>. Mersey Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) was called to reports of a person in the water shortly after 8pm today, Monday, July 21.<\/p>\n

Two fire engines, the search and rescue team, and a MFRS rescue boat attended the scene. One witness reported seeing police officers \u201crunning towards the water\u201d after arriving at the scene.<\/p>\n

The man, who was conscious and breathing but suffering from mild hypothermia, was rescued and brought to safety in the boat. He was then taken to hospital in an ambulance.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Mersey Fire said: MFRS attended an incident at the Pier Head, Liverpool on the evening of Monday 21st July.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrews were alerted at 20.05 and on scene at 20.07 with two fire engines, the search and rescue team, and MFRS rescue boat Marine Fire One attending.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was in response to reports of a person in the water. Crew members onboard Marine Fire One retrieved the casualty from the water and relocated shoreside.<\/p>\n
