{"id":282247,"date":"2025-07-22T10:23:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T10:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/282247\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T10:23:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T10:23:12","slug":"man-stabbed-in-the-back-and-another-slashed-in-targeted-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/282247\/","title":{"rendered":"Man stabbed in the back and another slashed in &#8216;targeted attack&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several cordons were in place following the knife incident<\/p>\n<p>10:29, 22 Jul 2025Updated 10:59, 22 Jul 2025<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_JS375859527.jpg\" alt=\"Merseyside Police scene on Kirk Street, Everton.\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Merseyside Police scene on Kirk Street, Everton.(Image: Liverpool ECHO)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A man was stabbed in the back and another slashed in a &#8220;targeted attack&#8221;. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/merseyside-police\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Merseyside Police<\/a> received a call from North West Ambulance Service at around 7.15pm on Monday, July 21 which said a man had been stabbed in the back and was being treated at a home on <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/large-police-presence-everton-after-32107638\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Jason Street in Everton<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/merseyside-police\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Officers<\/a> went to the scene and following further inquiries, a second injured man was found at nearby home and he had suffered a slash wound to his arm. The two men, aged 21 and 18, were both arrested on suspicion of affray and section 18 wounding with intent and taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The 18-year-old has since been discharged and is currently in police custody, while the other man remains in hospital in a stable condition, police said. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/large-police-presence-everton-after-32107638\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">When the ECHO went to the scene<\/a> on Monday, a cordon was in place on Mark Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">What appeared to be spatters of blood could also be seen on the pavement and police covered this with a plastic bag and tape. A forensics officer was seen scouring the pavement with a torch. There was also a trail of blood on the other side of the pavement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A witness said he saw &#8220;around 20 police cars&#8221; pull up to the scene on Mark Street. He also said an ambulance was at the scene earlier in the evening. Merseyside Police said an investigation is ongoing into the incident to establish exactly what happened and several cordons remain in the place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_JS375861012.jpg\" alt=\"Merseyside Police scene on Mark Street, Everton\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Merseyside Police scene on Mark Street, Everton(Image: Liverpool ECHO)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: \u201cThe investigation into this incident is in its early stages, but we believe it was targeted and that the men involved know each other. Thankfully we were able to locate them very quickly and they have both been arrested as part of our initial inquiries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe are determined to find out exactly what happened and several cordons remain in place today to help us establish the full circumstances of the incident.
