Sheffield United are set to agree to the sale of defender Miguel Freckleton to St Mirren.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Alan Nixon<\/a>, the Blades are set to receive a six-figure sum for the 21-year-old, who will depart the club on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n

Freckleton has spent the last six years at Bramall Lane, but has been unable to break into the first-team squad as a regular presence.<\/p>\n

He has spent time on loan with the likes of Wealdstone, Yeovil, Chesterfield and Swindon Town, but is now set for a permanent move to Scottish football.<\/p>\n\n\n

Freckleton has reportedly<\/a> made the decision to seek a permanent exit from Sheffield United<\/a> after six years with the club.<\/p>\n

The Scottish side are hoping<\/a> to reinforce their defensive options and have made the decision to push for a permanent option rather than a loan.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old scored six goals for the Blades last season.<\/p>\n

This move will raise some funds, with Ruben Selles looking to bolster his squad this summer as well.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard was unlikely to use Freckleton as part of his first-team plans, meaning this money can be allocated elsewhere, with the Yorkshire outfit eyeing promotion to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Swindon, where he made 28 appearances in League Two, with the team coming 12th in the table.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United\u2019s summer business<\/p>\n

Sheffield United<\/a> have completed two signings of their own this summer, bringing in Ehije Ukaki from Botev Plovdiv on a permanent basis, as well as loaning Tyler Bindon from Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

There have also been two departures at Bramall Lane, with Vini Souza exiting after a deal was agreed with Vfl Wolfsburg.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rhian Brewster left the club at the end of his contract, which expired this summer.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United<\/a> will begin their upcoming campaign with a clash against Bristol City on 9 August.<\/p>\n

Freckleton sale is good business for Sheffield United<\/p>\n

It\u2019s clear that Freckleton was not part of Sheffield United\u2019s plans, so earning a fee for his sale is a positive step forward for all parties.<\/p>\n

It allows the defender to focus on his career at St Mirren, providing him with some stability after going out on loan to new clubs every year.<\/p>\n

It also brings in a small fee for the Blades, which could be useful in some capacity this summer.<\/p>\n
