Police spent around six-and-a-half hours at the scene of a ‘stand off’ in Salford<\/a>.<\/p>\n Emergency services were called out to Spa Grove, in Little Hulton, following concerns for a person’s welfare at 4pm on Monday afternoon (July 21).<\/p>\n On arrival, officers discovered a man had become ‘aggressive’<\/a> and was threatening people with a weapon, described by witnesses as a ‘machete’.<\/p>\n Police remained at the scene throughout the evening, before the situation was eventually resolved at 10.30pm.<\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody today (Tuesday).<\/p>\n It’s understood the man was taken to hospital following the incident.<\/p>\n Armed police were seen in attendance at the scene alongside negotiators and firefighters.<\/p>\n One witness said: “It was a man with a machete, he went back into his house when police got here.
