The situation involving Nottingham Forest and Morgan Gibbs-White looks to be a complex one, to say the least. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, it seemed as though Gibbs-White was on his way to Tottenham<\/a> in a deal worth around \u00a360 million. <\/p>\n

However, Evangelos Marinakis has reported Tottenham<\/a> for an illegal approach for the Forest number 10 and the saga has rumbled on. <\/p>\n

Gibbs-White played for Forest against Monaco<\/a> on Saturday and he will fly out to Portugal to link up with his teammates once a personal issue is resolved in the coming days. <\/p>\n

Now, an update has been delivered by one of the nation\u2019s favourite radio stations regarding the whole situation. <\/p>\n

This whole situation is getting somewhat messy. <\/p>\n

Now, Alex Crook from TalkSPORT believes that Marinakis is hoping Manchester City come in with a bid to sign Forest star Gibbs-White this summer. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s claimed that the 24-year-old told Marinakis<\/a> at the end of last season that he would only leave Forest if a certain level of club came calling. <\/p>\n

Marinakis doesn\u2019t believe that Tottenham fit that criteria and has subsequently made this decision on the player\u2019s future. <\/p>\n

Given that some reports suggested a \u00a360 million release clause, it seems clear that Tottenham didn\u2019t meet the complete requirements of how the payment would be structured. <\/p>\n

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is hoping #ManCity<\/a> come in with a bid to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, who told Marinakis at the end of last season he would only leave for a certain level of club. Marinakis does not believe Tottenham fit that category.<\/p>\n

Gibbs-White can help Forest get a bargain deal for James McAtee<\/p>\n

Forest are keen on McAtee<\/a> but at \u00a335 million, he does feel a little bit overpriced \u2013 with the Reds agreeing behind the scenes. <\/p>\n

As a result, there is little surprise that Marinakis is hoping that City come back in for Gibbs-White<\/a>, with the player potentially used as bait to land McAtee. <\/p>\n

With two years left on his existing deal, Gibbs-White going for \u00a360 million probably wouldn\u2019t be a million miles away from a fair valuation. <\/p>\n

If a deal could be struck where Forest receive say \u00a340 million from City plus McAtee<\/a>, that might prove to be a deal well worth doing from the Reds\u2019 point of view. <\/p>\n

If Gibbs-White does want to go to bolster his World Cup chances with England, there might be little the club can do to prevent it. <\/p>\n

As a result, it\u2019s brilliant that Forest have an owner like Marinakis who is willing to pull out the stops to ensure the very best deal is received for the club\u2019s player. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
