The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor&#8217;s Office (SAPO) prosecutes corruption cases.<\/p>\n<p>Both NABU and SAPO were placed\u00a0under the direct supervision of the Prosecutor General, who is appointed by the president.<\/p>\n<p>This comes a day after a NABU employee was arrested on suspicion of spying for <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/russia\/t-19065060\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The move triggered criticism both at home and internationally, with the EU saying it was &#8220;concerned&#8221;
