Tributes have been paid to a 25-year-old Irish man who died during a trip to see the Tour de France in Paris.<\/p>\n
Tom\u00e1s Walsh, a talented cyclist from the Cheekpoint area of Co Waterford, died in the French capital in the early hours of yesterday morning.<\/p>\n
He had travelled to France to watch the 16th stage of the Tour de France today.<\/p>\n
Comeragh Cycling Club, where he was a member for the past ten years, described Tom\u00e1s as the “life and soul” of the club.<\/p>\n
In a statement, a club spokesperson said: “Tom\u00e1s joined us as a 15-year-old ten years ago and represented us at both underage and senior level where he had great success.<\/p>\n
“He was the life and soul of the club, a fantastic young man.”<\/p>\n
The club said its members had been “truly shattered” by Tom\u00e1s’ death and extended their condolences to his family and friends.<\/p>\n
