\n Dudley Council’s enforcement team has visited the site next to the former Nelson pub on Hagley Road and noted that development has taken place without permission.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n The owner\u00a0has been told to return the land to its former state or seek planning permission.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n Councillor Phil Atkins, cabinet member for development and regulation said: \u201cFollowing the recent complaints received about works adjoining the former Nelson pub, the enforcement team has visited the property and noted new development on site.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Contact has been established with the owner who has been given instructions to return the land to its former condition or to seek formal consent for the works.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n The land was the pub’s former beer garden.\n<\/p>\n
\n It was up for sale for offers of around \u00a3195k in 2023 with the listing stating that plans were being drawn up for “multiple blocks of apartments” on the site, but that there was no planning permission in place.\n<\/p>\n
\n Councillors Simon Phipps, Peter Dobb and Daniel Bevan had reported the development to the council.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u00a0Cllr Phipps said on social media: “We have noted reports of the unauthorised development ongoing next to the old Nelson pub on Hagley Road and reported this to the council last week.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Planning enforcement officers have advised those working on site that they need planning permission for what they’re doing.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n “If no application is forthcoming, we will be encouraging the council to take all necessary action against the operators.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The pub building has been converted into flats.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
