Adam Sandler is pleased with his \u201cHappy Gilmore 2\u2033 cast. <\/p>\n

Sandler was joined by family, friends, cast members and athletes at the \u201cHappy Gilmore 2\u2033 premiere at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday. <\/p>\n

The much-anticipated sequel comes nearly 30 years after the original \u201cHappy Gilmore\u201d premiered in February 1996, raking in more than $41 million globally at the box office<\/a>. Like the original, the sequel was co-written by Sandler and comedian Tim Herlihy. <\/p>\n

During the film\u2019s Monday premiere, Sandler shared how impressed he is with his cast, particularly Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 tight end Travis Kelce and musician Bad Bunny \u2014 who both have minimal cameos in the movie. <\/p>\n

\u201cTravis (Kelce) and (Bad) Bunny are ridiculous in it,\u201d Sandler told People<\/a> at the premiere event. He added, \u201cCan\u2019t believe they\u2019re my buddies now.\u201d<\/p>\n

While speaking to Variety<\/a> at the premiere, Sandler revealed he incorporated a part for Bad Bunny into the sequel after watching the musician host \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI saw him and and I couldn\u2019t believe how funny he was,\u201d Sandler said. \u201cI\u2019m happy he\u2019s in this.\u201d <\/p>\n

Bad Bunny joined Sandler at the premiere, but Kelce was busy with the Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 training camp, per Elle Magazine<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In addition to \u201cHappy Gilmore\u201d newcomers, several original cast members reprised their roles in the franchise and appeared at the premiere. <\/p>\n

Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, Christopher McDonald, Lee Trevino and Dennis Dugan were all at the event. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my happy place,\u201d McDonald told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> during a conversation at the premiere. He said \u201cHappy Gilmore 2\u2033 audiences will enjoy \u201ca lot of laughs and a lot of heart, because it has a great storyline intertwined together, and (about) what you have to do to beat the odds as the underdog.\u201d <\/p>\n

Current and previous pro-golfers were also invited to the event, including John Daly, Jim Furyk, Scottie Scheffler, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa and Will Zalatoris.<\/p>\n

Finau, who appears in \u201cHappy Gilmore 2\u2033 as himself, attended the premiere with his wife, Alayna Finau. He said having a role in the sequel, \u201cfeels surreal,\u201d per PGA Tour<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think \u2018Happy Gilmore\u2019 is one of the greatest comedies of all time,\u201d the Utah native added. \u201cTo be a part of the sequel, it\u2019s not even a dream come true because I didn\u2019t even dream that something like this could happen. So it\u2019s pretty special.\u201d<\/p>\n

When does \u2018Happy Gilmore 2\u2032 come out?<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy Gilmore 2\u2033 premieres exclusively on Netflix on Friday, July 25. <\/p>\n
