The “best campsites in the Scottish Borders<\/a>” have been crowned. Topping the list is a “tranquil” site with glamping tents.<\/p>\n

On Monday, July 21, Compass Campers shared<\/a> a list of the top campsites within the Scottish Borders. A total of eight sites and parks are featured on the roundup.<\/p>\n

Coming in at number one on the experts’ list is Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping near Denholm. The site<\/a> features more than 500 acres of unspoilt upland in the heart of Teviot Valley’s Special Landscape Area.<\/p>\n

Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping offers both camping and glamping<\/a>. Visitors can camp within an Edwardian walled garden or enjoy wild camping beneath spectacular trees, while the site’s Safari Tents include beds and a living, dining, and kitchen room.<\/p>\n

The campsite offers easy access to a wide range of outdoor activities for guests. These include horse riding and cycling<\/a>, while there are also many breathtaking walking trails in the area.<\/p>\n

Compass Campers wrote: “Bordered by a tranquil estate near Denholm, Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping mixes wild-style seclusion with home comforts, a unique combination that you won\u2019t often find elsewhere. You can pitch up in the woods for a proper back-to-nature feel, or go for a spot in the walled garden<\/a> if you\u2019d rather be nearer to facilities.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s a communal hub featuring hot showers, toilets and a log-burning stove. Little ones will be excited about swinging through the trees, and grown-ups will enjoy the stunning views over the Border hills.”<\/p>\n

Following behind in second place on Compass Campers’ list of the best campsites in the Scottish Borders is Coldingham Bay Leisure Park. The site is situated in the village of Coldingham, a short distance from the coast.<\/p>\n

The holiday park offers a number of two and three-bedroom caravans and lodges. These include modern interiors and amenities, ideal for those looking for a more luxurious getaway.<\/p>\n

Coldingham Bay Leisure Park is also located near Coldingham Beach, which is one of the most picturesque beaches in the Scottish Borders. The sheltered sandy beach stretches for approximately one kilometre and is home to many rock pools to explore.<\/p>\n

The experts stated: “Coldingham Bay is situated just inland from the Berwickshire coast, offering a delightful blend of countryside tranquillity and seaside charm, on a beautifully maintained site with level pitches, lovely showers, and a very warm welcome. Families are in for a treat, with a playground on site and plenty of space for kids to safely wander.”<\/p>\n

The third-best campsite in the Borders according to Compass Campers is Lauder Campsite near the small rural village of Oxton. The site offers a range of both grass and hardstanding pitches, with or without an electric hook-up.<\/p>\n

Among the facilities available at Lauder Campsite are toilets and showers, while there is also Wi-Fi. It was praised by the experts for its “friendly atmosphere” and scenic walks.<\/p>\n

Coming in at number four on the roundup is Tweedside Caravan Park, which can be found along the River Tweed in the town of Innerleithen. Featuring grass and hardstanding pitches with hook-ups, a children\u2019s play park, and toilet blocks, it was described as “a favourite home for both cyclists and families alike”.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the top five best campsites in the Scottish Borders according to Compass Campers is Glentress Forest Lodges and Campsite. Situated near the famous Glentress 7stanes mountain bike hub, it was described as ideal for those seeking an active getaway.<\/p>\n

Another campsite featured on the roundup is Honey Cottage Caravan Park in the heart of Ettrick Valley. Applauded by the experts for its peaceful atmosphere and idyllic setting, the family-run holiday park is surrounded by rolling hills and dense woodland.<\/p>\n

Completing the list are Lilliardsedge Holiday Park near Jedburgh and Thirlestane Castle Caravan Park in Lauder. The former earned praise for its sizeable outdoor play area, while Thirlestane Castle Caravan Park was noted for its unique position beside one of the oldest castles in Scotland.<\/p>\n
