Akin Famewo is the latest Sheffield Wednesday player to depart the club as a free agent amid links to Hull City.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Hull Live<\/a>, the Tigers are in talks to sign the 26-year-old after departing Hillsborough after his contract was terminated via mutual consent.<\/p>\n

It has been claimed that he could sign for the Owls\u2019 Yorkshire rivals by the middle of this week, with the defender moving on quickly from live in Danny Rohl\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Famewo spent the last three seasons with Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, making a total of 65 league appearances in that time.<\/p>\n\n\n

Akin Famewo blow for Sheffield Wednesday<\/p>\n

When asked if Famewo\u2019s departure was a blow, FLW\u2019s Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> fan pundit Patrick McKenna claimed that it has been a summer of blows for the club.<\/p>\n

While he isn\u2019t concerned about the loss of Famewo\u2019s ability, he believes the experience and depth he added to the squad disappearing is the bigger issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is certainly another blow for us in a summer of blows,\u201d McKenna told Football League World.<\/p>\n

\u201cAkin, okay he\u2019s not a top level defender, he is bottom-end in the Championship, he does have mistakes in him, but I think last season before his injury he hit his best form.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut this isn\u2019t really about ability mainly, it\u2019s about losing another player, shedding more players, weakening our squad, the loss of more experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not something you want to see, but again he\u2019s going to be a player going for no money.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the reason he\u2019s going is related to wages, so it\u2019s another blow and it\u2019s going to have a further impact on the season ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh Windass and Michael Smith have also departed Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> this summer through termination of their contracts, in what has been a very difficult period for the club behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday disasters are piling up<\/p>\n

On the face of it, losing Famewo isn\u2019t a massive blow as he wasn\u2019t a massively important part of the team.<\/p>\n

But in the grander scheme of things, it is a blow for whoever is manager next season, whether it is Danny Rohl or someone else, given the number of departures that are now piling up.<\/p>\n

Replacing these players won\u2019t be easy given the transfer restrictions they\u2019ve been handed, along with the lack of money.<\/p>\n
