According to LinkedIn\u2019s data, a staggering 40% of roles advertised on the careers platform in June were hybrid and a further 9% were fully remote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And contrary to the common assumption that hybrid and remote working is dying a slow death, in Britain, the opposite is actually true: In January 2024, 37% of roles in the UK were hybrid, highlighting a slow (3%) uptick in such roles since.<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, in other major European economies like France and Italy, around a third of roles offer hybrid work; however, they are experiencing a roughly 10% year-on-year decline in hybrid and remote job postings.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So, for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/23\/the-no-1-country-americans-want-to-move-to-most-says-survey-of-over-100000-people.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/23\/the-no-1-country-americans-want-to-move-to-most-says-survey-of-over-100000-people.html\" class=\"sc-19cc8fd2-0 iHosVH\">hundreds of thousands of Americans<\/a> looking to flee the U.S., the UK actually offers more flexibility than France or Italy\u2014without the language barrier. You\u2019ll just have to give up the dream of a <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/07\/11\/americans-fleeing-1-home-europe-italy-france-cheap-housing-trump-administration-visas\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/07\/11\/americans-fleeing-1-home-europe-italy-france-cheap-housing-trump-administration-visas\/\" class=\"sc-19cc8fd2-0 iHosVH\" rel=\"noopener\">\u20ac1 villa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the study was based on the UK, its capital London dominates job growth\u2014and as Tamara Basic Vasiljev, the head economist for EMEA at LinkedIn, told Fortune, the city offers a unique blend of economic pressures and infrastructure quirks that make hybrid work stick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe UK\u2019s position is influenced by its service-oriented economy, with London playing a dominant role as a global services hub,\u201d she explained, adding that office space is expensive and so too are train tickets, leaving many living in the suburbs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese factors have likely contributed to making hybrid work more attractive and practical in the United Kingdom than in many comparable countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It perhaps explains why Amazon\u2014the tech giant that sparked the domino effect across corporate America after being the first major company to crack down on remote work\u2014has reportedly been forced to take a <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/2025\/01\/09\/amazon-rto-mandate-europe-us\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/2025\/01\/09\/amazon-rto-mandate-europe-us\/\" class=\"sc-19cc8fd2-0 iHosVH\" rel=\"noopener\">softer stance<\/a> in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Hybrid job ads are more popular\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s tight talent market, flexibility sells. According to LinkedIn\u2019s data, job advertisements offering hybrid working attract up to three times more applications than those requiring full-time office attendance. That makes keeping hybrid offerings not just a perk, but a powerful recruitment tool.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s not hard to see why.\u00a0People have moved further than ever from their offices. <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/article\/return-to-office-rto-super-commute-pandemic-suburbs-rural-city\/?utm_source=search&amp;utm_medium=suggested_search&amp;utm_campaign=search_link_clicks\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/article\/return-to-office-rto-super-commute-pandemic-suburbs-rural-city\/?utm_source=search&amp;utm_medium=suggested_search&amp;utm_campaign=search_link_clicks\" class=\"sc-19cc8fd2-0 iHosVH\" rel=\"noopener\">Research<\/a> last year by Trainline showed the number of people spending more than three hours getting to work and back\u2014otherwise known as \u201csuper-commuting\u201d\u2014doubled since before the pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just that workers don\u2019t want to endure hours on end on public transport. With inflation high but wages low, some unemployed Gen Z grads can\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/preview\/europe\/2024\/02\/05\/unemployed-gen-z-turn-work-down-because-they-cant-afford-commute-uniform-report-cost-of-living-crisis\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/preview\/europe\/2024\/02\/05\/unemployed-gen-z-turn-work-down-because-they-cant-afford-commute-uniform-report-cost-of-living-crisis\/\" class=\"sc-19cc8fd2-0 iHosVH\" rel=\"noopener\">actually afford the commute<\/a>, and are having to turn down work for that reason.<\/p>\n<p>And then there\u2019s working parents who have been able to better juggle pickups, drop-offs, and the rising cost of childcare, by being able to work from home\u2014even a few days a week can make the difference between staying in a job or being one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/2023\/11\/06\/motherhood-penalty-250000-moms-quit-jobs-childcare-pressures-toxic-attitudes\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/2023\/11\/06\/motherhood-penalty-250000-moms-quit-jobs-childcare-pressures-toxic-attitudes\/\" class=\"sc-19cc8fd2-0 iHosVH\" rel=\"noopener\">hundreds of thousands of moms<\/a> who were forced to leave the workforce as in-office working has picked up again.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, British firms may not match U.S. paychecks\u2014but in a world where flexibility is the new currency, it could be enough to lure top talent across the pond.<\/p>\n<p>Have you considered moving to the U.K. for more work-life balance?
