Djeidi Gassama couldn\u2019t have asked for a better start to his Rangers career.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After Sheffield Wednesday sold Gassama for just \u00a32.2m<\/a>, the winger scored four minutes into his Rangers debut in 2-0 win against Panathinaikos in a Champions League qualifier.<\/p>\n

Gassama came off the bench and gave Russell Martin\u2019s<\/a> side a huge advantage ahead of the return leg in Athens next week.<\/p>\n

Wednesday fans were heartbroken by Gassama\u2019s performance<\/a> after the Owls were forced into selling the winger due to the club\u2019s well-documented financial troubles.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s fair to say that the 21-year-old will quickly become a favourite amongst supporters and media if he puts in performances like that, and Gassama earned plenty of praise for his performance.<\/p>\n

The Scotsman<\/a> described his impact as \u201cthe perfect introduction\u201d, handing him an 8\/10.<\/p>\n

The Herald<\/a> said that the fans were \u201caudibly excited every time he touched the ball\u201d.<\/p>\n

Glasgow World<\/a> added that Gassama \u201cdisplayed pace, control and a finishing prowess\u201d and he could become a \u201cshrewd acquisition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, the Daily Record<\/a> said that the super-sub \u201d stole the show\u201d for Rangers on his amazing debut. <\/p>\n

Russell Martin urges Rangers to remain focused <\/p>\n

After Gassama angered Rangers fans<\/a> earlier in the week, he\u2019s already won their hearts and minds but will soon realise that the demands are like that every week.<\/p>\n

Like his new signing, it was also a winning start to his time at Rangers for Martin, who came close to becoming Leicester City manager<\/a> and he admitted there is still work to do.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s half-time,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have to respect that we\u2019re playing against a really good team and they\u2019re going to be ready next week and we have to be even better than we were tonight and we will be. <\/p>\n
