Two people have died and two others were seriously injured in a shooting incident in Co Fermanagh this morning.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred in the Drummeer Road area of Maguiresbridge.<\/p>\n
The PSNI said the Drummeer Road is closed and there is no ongoing risk to the public.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call at 8.21am and dispatched crews to the scene.<\/p>\n
It said that one person was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, and another was taken to South West Acute Hospital by ambulance.<\/p>\n
Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill said she is “absolutely heartbroken by the news from Maguiresbridge”.<\/p>\n
In a post on X, she said she has no doubt the community will come together and “support one another through this incredibly difficult time”.<\/p>\n
UUP MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone Diana Armstrong said her “thoughts are with the families of those affected and with everyone in this rural local community as they come to terms with this tragedy”.<\/p>\n
She urged that people “allow space for the investigation to proceed and respect the privacy of those involved at this difficult time.”<\/p>\n
