The countdown to the Gallagher’s much-anticipated gigs at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium<\/a> is officially underway, with just over two weeks to go until Oasis take the Scottish stage for the first time in 15 years. And with over 67,000 fans attending each of the three nights, which take place on August 8, 9 and 12, it’s definitely time to start planning what to bring and how to get there.<\/p>\n

We’ve covered public transport options<\/a> and road closures<\/a>, but another important thing to consider is what you’re planning on bringing into the stadium. Murrayfield has strict rules on what you can and cannot bring into the concert venue, so it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with them ahead of the event.<\/p>\n

Security staff will be searching every single fan on entry, so it’s vital you don’t bring any contraband which could get confiscated or cause delays at the gate. Here’s everything you need to know about which items you’re allowed to take into the Edinburgh Oasis concerts,<\/a> and which will see you held up by security.<\/p>\n

A number of items are banned from Murrayfield, including:<\/p>\n

Bags larger than A4 (30cm x 21cm)<\/p>\n

Only bags smaller than an A4 sheet of paper are allowed into the gig.<\/p>\n

There is also no bag drop policy, so be wary not to break this rule or your bag may be confiscated.<\/p>\n

However, bags required to carry medical<\/a> or childcare items are an exception, and those with these bags are to enter via the dedicated turnstiles.<\/p>\n

Knives or weapons<\/p>\n

Possession of any dangerous or hazardous items may constitute a criminal offence and will be reported to Police Scotland.<\/a><\/p>\n

Food or drink<\/p>\n

All food and drink from outside the venue is prohibited from taking in on entry.<\/p>\n

Exceptions include an unopened soft plastic water bottle of no bigger than 500ml, or an empty collapsible water bottle of the same size which you can refill in the venue.<\/p>\n

If you don’t already have a collapsible water bottle, some cheap options are available, such as this one from Amazon<\/a>, which retails at \u00a39.99.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, this Decathlon option<\/a> from Argos is available for \u00a312.<\/p>\n

Flasks and hard water bottles<\/p>\n

Hard water bottles and hip flasks, as well as thermos flasks and metal drinks containers are all banned from Murrayfield.<\/a><\/p>\n

If you arrive with one of these, you will be required to bin it upon entry.<\/p>\n

Fireworks, flares and smoke bombs<\/p>\n

Possession of fireworks, smoke bombs, flares or other pyrotechnic items will result in a report to Police Scotland<\/a> as they may constitute a criminal offence.<\/p>\n

Banners or flags which contain offensive or abusive slogans<\/p>\n

Banners or flags with statements that may be considered racist, homophobic, political or discriminatory will also be confiscated.<\/p>\n

Small flags and banners are permitted but the venue says that any flag or banner, irrelevant of content, which is larger than 12inches x 16inches (30cm x 41cm) with poles longer than 1m in length, or thicker than one inch (2.5cm) will not be permitted into the stadium.<\/p>\n

Musical instruments<\/p>\n

Don’t bring your guitar expecting to be invited up on stage for Wonderwall- only the band are allowed to bring their instruments.<\/p>\n

Umbrellas of any size<\/p>\n

Scotland may be rainy,<\/a> but you’ll need a rain jacket or waterproof poncho as your umbrella won’t make it through the Murrayfield gates.<\/p>\n

Laser pointers and torches<\/p>\n

Don’t bring a torch or laser pointer.<\/p>\n

Air horns, party poppers and silly string are also prohibited.<\/p>\n

Animals<\/p>\n

All animals except guide dogs <\/a>are forbidden, and those bringing an assistance dog should make Customer Services aware ahead of the gig.<\/p>\n

Large cameras<\/p>\n

Cameras with a lens of more than three inches or with a detachable lens aren’t allowed either, and it must be possible for any camera you’re bringing in to fit comfortably into a pocket or bag.<\/p>\n

Audio recording equipment<\/p>\n

This includes laptops and iPads.<\/a><\/p>\n

Tripods and selfie sticks<\/p>\n

You may want to record moments of the upcoming concerts, but gig goers shouldn’t bring any large equipment with them, including selfie sticks or tripods.<\/p>\n
