An intrepid couple who sold their home and now travel around Europe in a motorhome have named two of their favourite lesser-known destinations. In an exclusive interview, Steve and Wendy, a retired couple from Brighton and Hove in Sussex, detailed how they’ve traded their former life in Britain for a full-time continental adventure<\/a> with their dog, Pippin.<\/p>\n In 2015, they sold up and bought a motorhome so they could embark on a life of full-time travel <\/a>across Europe and the UK. Known as the Happy Travellers<\/a> <\/a>on YouTube, Steve and Wendy have documented their exploits since 2016, sharing over 1,000 vlogs and regularly posting travel-themed content on their channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n Over the course of their years of travel, Steve and Wendy have paid particular attention to the Schengen Area of Europe and have visited France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, and Sweden<\/a>.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Brit tries beer, wine and tapas in Benidorm and total price leaves her speechless<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n READ MORE: Holidaymakers ‘scared and stressed’ as people vow to ‘never return’ to tourist hotspot<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n When asked to name some of the stand-out places they’ve visited, the couple highlighted Spain and named two lesser-known destinations among their favourites, noting how they enjoy visiting the “off-the-beaten-track places.”<\/p>\n Steve said: “For winter, we normally head south for Spain and Portugal; our first time to Portugal was last winter. We love that people (are) so friendly.<\/p>\n “Very, you know, even though we don’t speak Portuguese at all, people are so helpful even if they don’t speak English. We sort of get by with a bit of rough sign language, you know.”<\/p>\n He added: “Our first travel to Spain was interesting because we tried to sort of learn and practice a bit of Spanish on a campsite there in Benic\u00e0ssim.”<\/p>\n Elaborating more on the couple’s choice of destinations, Steve added that they like “off-the-beaten-track places” and “really like” the “non-tourist areas.” It prompted Wendy to share her thoughts on the Spanish <\/a>locale. She said: “We did like Benic\u00e0ssim though, in Spain, that was lovely.”<\/p>\n When asked what specifically they liked about it, Wendy highlighted a “beautiful cycle route” and a “very Spanish” local town with a “wonderful seafront” where you can “walk for miles”, adding that it’s “got everything”.<\/p>\n Benic\u00e0ssim is a municipality situated in the Castell\u00f3n province on the Costa del Azahar. It boasts six kilometres of beaches and picturesque mountains, which form part of the Desert of Las Palmas and Sierra de Santa Agueda.<\/p>\n Noted as a traditional holiday spot, the sun-kissed destination <\/a>features modernist and colonial-style villas, an 18th-century<\/a> Neoclassical church, and the watchtower of San Vicente.<\/p>\n Steve also noted that despite campsites, Benic\u00e0ssim “doesn’t feel so touristy” with a local culture “feel” to it. He followed up by naming another Spanish locale that they love: “Little place in Granada region. It’s called Salobre\u00f1a. Lovely little place.”<\/p>\n Salobre\u00f1a is a historic Spanish town located on the Costa Granadina in Granada.
