EXCLUSIVE: Love Island’s Harrison Solomon and Lauren Wood speak in their first joint interview as Harrison makes a huge life-changing decision days after leaving the ITV2 show<\/p>\n

Love Island star Harrison Solomon<\/a> has revealed he won\u2019t be returning to America after finding love with Lauren Wood \u2014 just days after walking out of the villa in an emotional bombshell exit.<\/a><\/p>\n

In their first joint exclusive chat with The Mirror<\/a>, the 22-year-old, who previously lived in the US, said the decision to stay in the UK was easy after the whirlwind of fame, controversy, and romance that followed his time on the ITV2 show.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs it stands, I\u2019m not going back to America,\u201d Harrison confirmed. \u201cComing off Love Island<\/a>, I want to be around people who love and support me \u2014 my family, my friends\u2026 and Lauren.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple, who were brought together during the infamous Casa Amor twist<\/a>, have been inseparable ever since. Lauren, 26, entered the villa halfway through the summer series, instantly catching Harrison\u2019s eye despite him being coupled up with original islander Toni. And while the Derby lad\u2019s journey was anything but smooth \u2014 involving late-night tears, public backlash, and emotional goodbyes \u2014 he insists he has no regrets.<\/p>\n

When Harrison first entered the villa as a bombshell almost 5 weeks ago, viewers weren\u2019t quite sure what to make of him. Charming, flirty, and confident, he quickly coupled up with Toni, and the pair looked like a solid match \u2014 at first.<\/p>\n

But everything changed when Casa Amor hit<\/a>, and Lauren strutted into the picture. \u201cI knew I was going in for Harrison,\u201d Lauren admits. \u201cHe\u2019s 100% my type. As cringe as it sounds, he\u2019s my type to a T. But I didn\u2019t expect the connection to be so instant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harrison echoed the sentiment. \u201cAs soon as I saw her, I got this giddy feeling. I fancied her straight away, and the more we talked, the more we realised how much we had in common. It just flowed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their chemistry was undeniable \u2014 but it came at a cost. Harrison\u2019s decision to bring Lauren back to the main villa shocked the group<\/a>, especially Toni, who was left single and blindsided. What followed was a tense recoupling, a teary confrontation, and one of the most emotional exits of the season so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrying to navigate getting to know two people at once \u2014 there\u2019s no handbook for that,\u201d Harrison admits. \u201cI definitely didn\u2019t go about things the right way, and I hurt people along the way. But it was never malicious.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Lauren was dumped from the island,<\/a> Harrison shocked everyone by voluntarily leaving the villa 24 hours later to be with her on the outside.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople said I shouldn\u2019t leave, but I knew I had to. That day without her made me realise what I wanted,\u201d he said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t a good 24 hours. I just sat and reflected. I went in to find something real, and I knew that was Lauren.\u201d Since leaving the show, the couple have been adjusting to life in the real world<\/a> \u2014 but without the 24\/7 cameras.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been on proper dates, shopping in London, and just enjoying time together,\u201d Lauren shared. \u201cIt\u2019s nice just being us, not \u2018Harrison and Lauren from Love Island.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair have already spoken to each other’s families over FaceTime<\/a> and say meeting in person is on the cards soon. \u201cShe spoke to my whole family. We\u2019ll get to boyfriend and girlfriend status in the near future,\u201d Harrison teased. \u201cShe wants me to pop the question now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their first official date? \u201cHarry\u2019s just outside Harrods,\u201d he revealed. \u201cWe planned it while in the villa, so we knew exactly what we wanted to do when we got out.\u201d<\/p>\n

But it hasn\u2019t all been sunshine and selfies. Harrison faced backlash after Women\u2019s Aid raised concerns about \u201cmisogynistic behaviour\u201d during his time on the show, particularly relating to how he navigated his connections with Toni and Lauren.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was hard to see,\u201d he said of the articles. \u201cI don\u2019t believe those labels reflect who I am at all. I\u2019ve definitely made mistakes, but none of it came from a bad place. Everyone close to me \u2014 even Toni \u2014 knows that.\u201d<\/p>\n

In one of his final villa scenes, Harrison got visibly emotional during a heartfelt chat with Toni, apologising for how things ended. \u201cShe told me I wasn\u2019t a bad person, just that I went about things the wrong way,\u201d he said. \u201cThat meant a lot. I needed that conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the show aired just one hour a day, both Harrison and Lauren insist that their connection was deeper than what viewers may have seen.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople think it was all PDA, but it wasn\u2019t,\u201d Lauren said. \u201cWe were genuinely getting to know each other. We were glued to each other\u2019s sides every day.\u201d Harrison agreed: \u201cWe had proper chats, laughs, and just clicked on every level. That\u2019s why I left.\u201d<\/p>\n

With their relationship going strong, the couple are taking things slow \u2014 but seriously. \u201cThere\u2019s no pressure,\u201d said Harrison. \u201cWe\u2019re just enjoying this chapter and taking it day by day.\u201d<\/p>\n

And what about watching the show back? \u201cNot yet,\u201d Lauren laughed. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen TikToks and little clips, but we\u2019ll probably binge it in a few months when we\u2019ve got time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking back, Harrison says the toughest part wasn\u2019t the drama \u2014 it was hurting people unintentionally. \u201cI cared about both girls at one point, and I know my indecision caused pain. That\u2019s what I regret the most.\u201d But he also knows he\u2019s come out of it with something real. \u201cI left Love Island with what I went in for. That\u2019s all I could\u2019ve asked for.\u201d<\/p>\n
