Arsenal<\/a> are on the cusp of bringing in a new first-choice marksman as Viktor Gyokeres is nearing a move from Primeira Liga heavyweights Sporting<\/a>, but boss Mikel Arteta would make his side serious challengers for a first-ever Champions League crown by signing Crystal Palace<\/a> star Eberechi Eze in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The Gunners have shown a willingness to raid Premier League rivals since the transfer window reopened, with Noni Madueke becoming the latest big-money recruit as he sealed a switch worth up to \u00a352million<\/a> from Chelsea last week, and they need to prioritise snapping up another England international.<\/p>\n

Although Arsenal also splashed the cash on Martin Zubimendi earlier this month, with close to \u00a360million being forked out<\/a> to lure the Spanish midfielder away from boyhood club Real Sociedad, the chances of clinching silverware will improve significantly if they manage to secure additional creativity.<\/p>\n

Eze Ready to Make Move to Emirates Stadium<\/strong><\/p>\n

Respected Emirates Stadium insider Hand of Arsenal has claimed that Eze would be ready to sign a five-year deal ‘tomorrow’<\/a>, highlighting his desire to move across the capital from Crystal Palace, and Arteta should push sporting director Andrea Berta to do all he can to make that a reality as preparations are made for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

The Gunners have an opportunity to take advantage of a \u00a368million release clause<\/a> written into the wide forward’s contract, thanks to it reactivating earlier this summer, and there is no doubt that he would form a deadly partnership with Gyokeres and academy graduate Bukayo Saka in a new-look front three.<\/p>\n

Eze is Crystal Palace’s second-highest earner<\/a>, due to being on a deal which allows him to pocket \u00a3100,000-per-week, and his form during the 2024\/25 campaign highlighted that he would make Arsenal even more of a threat if Arteta has him among his options before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.<\/p>\n

Gyokeres is poised to arrive in north London in the coming days, thanks to an agreement worth up to \u00a364million being reached<\/a> with Sporting, and that will improve the Gunners’ chances of ending their wait for the Premier League title as well as challenging for honours on all fronts.<\/p>\n

Eze has been described as a ‘superstar’ by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher<\/a>, as a result of his influence in the final third of the pitch, and it cannot be ignored that he would be a major upgrade on the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on Arsenal’s left flank heading into the new term.<\/p>\n

GMS sources first revealed that Arsenal made contact to sign Eze last month<\/a> and, having remained on their radar while Berta has been completing other business in the background, they ought to make him their number one target when Gyokeres is officially unveiled as their latest acquisition.<\/p>\n

The Sweden international – labelled a ‘physical machine’<\/a> – needs service if he is to become a success story at the Emirates Stadium, emphasising that Arteta must put pressure on the Gunners’ sporting director to make another attacking signing ahead of starting the Premier League season with a trip to Manchester United.<\/p>\n

Eze, who has been at Crystal Palace since completing a \u00a319.5million move<\/a> from Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers in August 2020, would provide Gyokeres with regular presentable opportunities and that demonstrates that he is the ideal fit as Arsenal aim to get their hands on the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history.<\/p>\n
