He recalled how Georgia had been drinking both lager and vodka while with him.

The inquest heard how Mr Pollard and Georgia left the group to go to the toilet on the basement floor at around 2.15am. As they walked down the stairs, Georgia held Mr Pollard’s arm but her legs “went from beneath her” and she hit her head on the concrete floor.

A witness at the bottom of the stairs, Sean Moogan, said he had not been drinking that night but was out in the bar. His statement said: “I was in Lost on Seel Street seeing my friends. I wasn’t drinking at all this night. I had just been inside the toilets, as I have got to the stairwell, I have seen a male and female walking down the stairs.”

Mr Moogan explained how he saw Georgia’s legs give way while she walked down the stairs, estimating she was around six steps from the bottom of the stairs. He said as she fell her legs swung up to the same height as his head.

Mr Moogan noted how her friend, Mr Pollard, ran to try and help Georgia, who was unconscious, screaming her name. Mr Moogan, a former personal trainer with first aid training, told Mr Pollard to calm down and move back so he did not move her body in case it worsened the injuries.

Paramedics took her to Aintree Hospital, she was checked over and had a blood test before being transferred to The Walton Centre.

An inquest was held on Wednesday, July 23, into the death of Georgia

A toxicology report found Georgia had an alcohol reading of 294, around three-and-a-half times the drink-driving limit, and a “low level of ketamine”. She remained on life support in hospital until she died on April 13, 2025.

Following the incident, Aoife Magill, an environmental health officer for Liverpool City Council visited the premises where it was found there were no slip strips on the stairs leading down to the basement. This was noted as a breach and the bar was told to ensure they were in place in future.

When questioned over the findings of the council’s investigation by Area Coroner for Liverpool and Wirral, Ms Anita Bhardwaj, Ms Magill said: “It is more than likely that she did slip [on the stairs].” She said that due to the CCTV camera being obstructed by a person walking behind Georgia and Mr Pollard, she was unable to say that definitively.

Following a police investigation as to whether Georgia was pushed down the stairs, it was concluded by Detective Inspector Dillon of Merseyside Police that this was not the case. In a statement read to the court on his behalf, it was heard how a group of people, including Georgia, had been crowded round a table before she and Mr Pollard leave to go to the toilet.

He was seen taking something from his jumper, with Gerogia then linking arms with Mr Pollard as they walked down the stairs. Between two CCTV cameras, Georgia could be seen “falling at speed” down the stairs and hitting her head.

Nicola Poulton, Georgia’s mum, said she was “fun, outgoing and hardworking” and “always had a smile on her face”. A post mortem found her death was a result of extensive brain injury caused by a fall.

Concluding the inquest, Ms Bhardwaj said: “More likely than not that Georgia has died from the injuries sustained from the fall.
