Whether it’s their first visit or they’re seasoned Steel City tourists, finding activities to suit everyone can be tricky. Luckily, Sheffield is a city that caters to all tastes – from outdoor adventurers to café connoisseurs and foodies. Whether it’s exploring the breathtaking Peaks, enjoying the city’s coffee shop galore, or diving into friendly competition, Sheffield has something to impress even the pickiest relatives.

Food, food and more food

I can’t speak for everyone, but when my parents visit Sheffield, it’s the perfect excuse to indulge in those slightly pricier coffee shops or food spots that my student budget rarely allows. Start the day on Division Street, home to plenty of cozy cafes and eateries. If I had to pick one, I’d recommend Forum Kitchen. With its specialty coffee and freshly baked goods from Forge Bakehouse, it’s an ideal brunch spot for the whole family. They always have seasonal specials and their playlist is top tier, what more could you want?

A short stroll down from Forum is Rudy’s Pizza. Now this may seem like your average pizza restaurant but when I say it’s a staple to visit, I really mean it. Along with their fan favourite, the Triple Pepperoni, every six weeks the Neapolitan chain create new specials inspired by seasonal ingredients and local Italian neighbourhoods. With its charming atmosphere and excellent options, it’s perfect for that first dinner out with the family. P.S a visit to Rudy’s is not complete without the extra drips. Get the garlic aioli, trust me.

Fun activities

For my adrenaline junkie-coded families, Boom Battle Bar is the place to be. Located in the heart of the city, this lively venue offers an array of thrilling activities, from axe throwing and crazy golf to shuffleboard and augmented reality darts. If your family thrives on a mix of “friendly” competition and laughter, this is the perfect spot to settle that sibling rivalry once and for all.

For bowling lovers, just across the street you’ll find Lane7. This is another go-to spot for competitive minds, so get your bowling shoes on and show off your best form. After the games, you can race your siblings on the driving simulators or capture the moment in their photo booth for an instant wholesome printout.

Sheffield Christmas Market

I know this is a seasonal mention but if you’re lucky enough to have your family come to visit near the festive period, Sheffield Christmas markets are definitely one to consider. The markets are bound to get even the most grinch-like dads feeling a bit festive. Stretching from the Moor to the Peace Gardens, there are plenty of stalls to please foodies, craft fanatics and hot chocolate connoisseurs. If you can get past the £10 price tag on a Yorkshire pudding wrap then this one is for you. Also, as a crumble lover, the Cubbrini’s Crumble stall is expert approved.

The Peak District

Coming from a family of walking enthusiasts, I am certain that the Peaks would be a non negotiable for many relatives when visiting Sheffield. After only a short trip out of the city by car or bus, you will be met with stunning landscapes and plenty of pubs to have that post walk pint or maybe even a Sunday roast if you’re lucky. Whether your family prefers a relaxing stroll or a challenging hike, there’s something for everyone, especially any furry friends in the family. Chatsworth House in the Peaks also has plenty to offer for a family day out, complete with picturesque garden landscapes, quaint gift shops and even cottages for an overnight stay.

This is your sign to take charge of the itinerary next time Hosting a family day in Sheffield?…

[8817
748,393,4884,1620,16,15
0":"post-286702","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sheffield","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-sheffield","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
