It\u2019s very much part of its future, too\u2014and nothing proves that more than <strong>Supersonic Festival\u2019s return to Digbeth this August<\/strong>. What started as a one-day event in 2003 is now an internationally renowned experimental music and arts festival 22 years later.<\/p>\n<p>With a line-up that includes Backxwash, Moin, Rich(ard) Dawson, The Bug feat Warrior Queen, and Witch Club Satan, Supersonic will take over (<strong>August 29 \u2013 31<\/strong>) many Digbeth venues like XOYO, O2 Institute, Eastside Projects, and Zellig. There\u2019s a reason it\u2019s received four consecutive 5-star reviews from The Guardian.<\/p>\n<p>Supersonic was created by Capsule, the Birmingham-based arts organisation also responsible for the <strong>groundbreaking heritage project, Home of Metal<\/strong>. And have worked closely with Black Sabbath to champion their global legacy and Birmingham\u2019s place in music history. But Capsule\u2019s work\u2014which won the<strong> Arts and Culture Award at the 2024 Birmingham Awards<\/strong>\u2014is as much about shaping the future.<\/p>\n<p> What are Supersonic\u2019s family-friendly kids gigs?     <\/p>\n<p>Supersonic is nurturing the next generation with <strong>family-friendly kids gigs<\/strong>, Big Sounds for Little People, designed to introduce children to experimental, live music. In the past, Kid Carpet and Matana Roberts have performed, but catch <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/supersonicfestival.com\/event\/kids-gig-mermaid-chunky-festival-special\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/supersonicfestival.com\/event\/kids-gig-mermaid-chunky-festival-special\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_1\" data-category=\"click_non_sales\">Mermaid Chunky at MAC on Saturday, August 30<\/a>\u2014could it inspire your little one to be the next Ozzy Osbourne?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Festival co-founder and Artistic Director Lisa Meyer said: \u201cSupersonic is a <strong>homegrown success story<\/strong> that continues to bring global recognition and economic benefits to Birmingham. But the pressures we\u2019re under are growing. To keep this internationally acclaimed event in the city, we need meaningful support and recognition of the vital role independent culture plays in Birmingham\u2019s identity and future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supersonic\u2019s unique programme<\/strong> brings together pioneering artists from across the globe. This<br \/>year\u2019s line-up features UK exclusive performances from Zambian-Canadian rapper Backxwash,<br \/>Sweden\u2019s Funeral Folk (Maria W Horn &amp; Sara Parkman), and Norway\u2019s Witch Club Satan, alongside<br \/>artists from Nigeria, Ireland, North America, and beyond.
