While Janibek Alimkhanuly <\/a>fondly rewinds to his vicious fifth-round stoppage win over mandatory challenger Anauel Ngamissengue on social media, the unified WBO\/IBF middleweight champion continues waiting patiently for fight news.
It’s been three-and-a-half months since his triumphant homecoming in Kazakhstan’s capital city<\/a> of Astana, where he returned to fight for the first time since the 2016 Olympian’s second professional fight some eight years ago.<\/p>\n

Since then, Alimhanuly (17-0, 12 KOs) gradually made a name for himself stateside and won, unified and defended world championships across the United States as well as an unexpected trip to Australia but being left unsatisfied.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

His resume flatters to deceive, and rather than take steps to achieve his undisputed aspirations, inactivity and one-sided matchups haven’t helped as many critics believe the 32-year-old has stagnated against middling opposition.<\/p>\n

Denzel Bentley’s determined pursuit of a rematch <\/a>with the southpaw, nearly three years after their short-notice matchup, is emblematic of the problems he faces at a time where few are willing to risk their leverage in a division needing change at the top. Bentley has this month been ordered by the WBO to face Endry Saavedra<\/a> in a final eliminator.
Janibek previously told The Ring of a willingness to move up to the 168-pound division<\/a>, much like Hamzah Sheeraz did recently, in hopes that he’ll finally secure the competitive marquee matchup he craves against a willing champion or top-ranked contender.
A proposed WBO\/IBF\/WBC unification with Carlos Adames<\/a> (24-1-1, 18 KOs) was in the works for The Ring’s Night of Champions card on Nov. 22, before negotiations with his fellow 160-pound titlist went cold.
During a recent appearance on Tha Boxing Voice, Riyadh Season head Turki Alalshikh was asked about potentially making Alimhanuly-Adames. It would’ve featured during a stacked bill headlined by David Benavidez-Anthony Yarde in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“He wasted my time and the chance [to box in a title unification], I gave him a good generous offer and after that, he waited 4-5 days, didn’t answer and was going [over] with small details. I cannot understand it and for that, I take [back] the offer. Janibek has no problem, Adames is the problem,” he said.<\/p>\n

“He gives a difficult time for Luis de Cubas, who is our partner now. This is his mistake, and if he doesn’t fix it we will miss him in Riyadh Season.”<\/p>\n

Adames, just like Benavidez, is another titleholder aligned with Premier Boxing Champions. He hadn’t boxed on a non-PBC show since signing a multi-year contract with them in 2021, before his 12-round majority draw against Sheeraz in February.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old has boxed once a year in each of the last three and was ordered to defend his WBC title against unbeaten Kazakh Meiirim Nursultanov (20-0, 11 KOs), though talks went quiet after a deadline was extended in May.<\/p>\n

Adames himself has been increasingly vocal on social media in recent weeks, from calling for a Sheeraz rematch after his super middleweight debut win over Edgar Berlanga,<\/a> to divulging failed talks about moving up in weight to box Benavidez \u2014 managed by de Cubas \u2014 last year.
