When choosing a bar for a first date, it\u00a0has to be perfect.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Said drinkery\u00a0shouldn\u2019t be too loud, or too ostentatious, and it ideally will provide some sort of distraction if things aren\u2019t going so well. Luckily, London has myriad cosy wine bars, romantic nooks and quirky drinking dens that will give you plenty of things to talk about should you and your date run out of conversation (it happens!).\u00a0<\/p>\n

But which of these sultry spots is the best? Time Out asked industry experts including Lyaness<\/a>\u2019 Mr Lyan, Max Venning of Three Sheets<\/a>, and co-owners of Rita\u2019s<\/a> Missy Flynn and Gabriel Pryce, to recommend their favourite bars in the city, so that in turn we could come up with the definitive ranking of the best drinking spots for date night. Here\u2019s what they said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the experts, London\u2019s best bar for a first date is Three Sheets Soho<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Three Sheets Soho is the second outpost of the Dalston-based cocktail bar, and opened last year. \u2018Three Sheets Soho is chic, buzzy and welcoming,\u2019 said Coral Anderson, managing director of Swift<\/a>, a cocktail bar with branches in Soho, London Bridge and Borough. \u2018You will never walk in and find it dead. The seating is perfect for two people, even if it\u2019s at the bar.\u2019<\/p>\n

Anderson recommended ordering the salted plum highball, and if you\u2019re feeling fancy \u2018you can get the best value glass of Dom Perignon in London\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018Three Sheets has a little bit of everything for everyone,\u2019 said Monica Berg, co-owner of Tay\u0113r + Elementary<\/a>. \u2018It\u2019s a good all-rounder in a central London location. It\u2019s not too loud so it\u2019s easy to have a chat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s very welcoming and relaxed, but at the same time signals that you\u2019re making an effort.<\/p>\n

\u2018I always start with the French 75.\u2019<\/p>\n

Runners up included listening bar Mu<\/a><\/strong> in Dalston, shouted out by Carina Soto Vel\u00e1squez, co-owner of Equal Parts<\/a>; wine bar Bruno<\/strong><\/a> in Victoria Park, recommended by Exale Brewing\u2019s Stephanie Randle-Solley; Quality Wines<\/strong><\/a> in Farringdon, approved by Missy and Gabriel of Rita\u2019s; and 42<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 the in-house cocktail bar at Michelin star restaurant Gymkhana<\/a> in Mayfair, nominated by Mr Lyan, particularly for its human-sized paintings of cats.<\/p>\n

This east London bar has been crowned the best in\u00a0the city right now<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
