Behind him is the view of a mountain, which shows he is high up.\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dvfjxj\"\/>Grizzly Munro Diaries<\/p>\n<p>Sean Green took his bike to the summit of every Munro in Scotland<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">A mountain biker has completed an epic challenge to ride his bike down Scotland&#8217;s 282 Munros.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Sean Green, 36, from Angus, believes he is only the second person in history to have taken a bike to the summit of all the mountains measuring 3,000ft (914m) and over.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The quest, which ended in Glencoe on Saturday, took the semi-professional cyclist around eight-and-a-half years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Like all Munro baggers, Sean climbed to the summit of but with the added weight of a bike on his back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">During the descent the scaffolder cycled down the narrow paths.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">He told <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/m000fdlr\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 bGFWdi\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC Radio Scotland&#8217;s Drivetime<\/a> programme the challenge combined his love for the outdoors and mountain biking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Sean said: &#8220;I&#8217;ve always been in and around the mountains growing up and, whenever I was walking them, and there was a good bit of trail in front of me I&#8217;d just wish I had my bike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">&#8220;Eventually I just decided I&#8217;ll start taking my bike up them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1752661270_973_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dkIvM hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/02f3efd0-680d-11f0-b65d-b96df10f6a56.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Grizzly Munro Diaries A person on a mountain bike rides down a grassy hill overlooking a body of water.\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dvfjxj\"\/>Grizzly Munro Diaries<\/p>\n<p>Sean carried his bike to the top but was able to get on it on the way down<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Sean said he enjoyed putting himself &#8220;in the pain cave&#8221; and just focused on putting one foot in front of the other.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The father-of-two said the hardest part of his mission was the logistics and the toll it took on family life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">He added: &#8220;I could be up and down a Munro in sub-four hours, but even then there was likely to be a three-hour drive before and a three-hour drive after.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">&#8220;So even the shortest days were still 12,14 or 16 hours.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Sean was supported during one of the climbs by Paul Tattersall, who was the first man to complete the challenge in just 81 days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">He said he had a few more adventures on his radar but had been warned by his wife not to take on anything as extreme.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1752661270_973_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dkIvM hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ea529de0-67e5-11f0-a665-63ea82eef55b.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Grizzly Munro Diaries A person on a mountain bike, wearing a black helmet and a green jacket, rides down a grassy hill.\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dvfjxj\"\/>Grizzly Munro Diaries<\/p>\n<p>Sean said the gruelling challenge took its toll on his family life<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The phenomenon known as Munro bagging was inspired by Sir Hugh Munro.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Munro, whose family were Scottish landowners, was born in London in 1856 and brought up at Lindertis, near Kirriemuir in Angus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">While studying in Germany, he climbed in the Alps and continued his interest in climbing when he settled at the family estate in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Sir Hugh was a founder and president of the Scottish Mountaineering Club which set him the task of listing all the country&#8217;s hills of 3,000ft (914m) or more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">It is estimated that around 8,000 people have officially scaled all 282 peaks &#8211;
