Two instances of racist graffiti in west Belfast are being treated as racially motivated hate incidents by police.<\/p>\n
The graffiti was spotted on a wall and footpath in the Glenwood and Twinbrook areas of the city on 22 July.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received a report that sometime overnight on Tuesday, 22nd July graffiti had been sprayed on a wall in the Glenwood area,\u201d said PSNI Neighbourhood Sergeant Nick Orman.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re also investigating a similar report in the riverside area of Twinbrook where graffiti was also recently painted onto a footpath.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth of these reports are being treated as racially-motivated hate incidents, and our enquiries are continuing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re also aware of other reports of graffiti in these areas – which have since been painted over.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will, however, continue to engage with local representatives and partner agencies concerning this issue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sinn F\u00e9in councillor Caoimh\u00edn McCann has condemned racist graffiti painted in the Woodside area.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s sickening and disgraceful that racist graffiti has appeared once again in Woodside,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis hateful behaviour is deplorable and does not reflect the views of the community, who value diversity and stand for equality.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone with information should contact the PSNI so that those responsible can be brought to justice.\u201d<\/p>\n
