Stockport\u2019s iconic railway arches look set to go ahead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The \u00a3250m project, known as <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/stockport\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Stockport<\/a> 8, will see 1,300 homes built across three plots of land to the west of Stockport Viaduct and transport interchange.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Councillors will decide the plans at Stockport\u2019s central area committee on July 31, with a recommendation to approve.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The work could start in 2026 and continue in phases until June 2034.<\/p>\n<p nine and 11 stories in height, based on the Stagecoach bus depot which would be demolished.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Plots two and three are asking for outline planning permission, but the concept design could see buildings up to 11 and 16 stories in height.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The tallest tower would be up to 94m in height, higher than the 34m Viaduct that is a famous part of Stockport\u2019s skyline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Currently, the land area is home to a mix of low-rise buildings on the intersection of King Street West and Daw Bank, including industrial and office use, as well as surface level car parking.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" \u2018the single largest residential regeneration scheme\u2019 in Stockport town centre west.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Join our blends new development with the town\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Stockport 8 is being led by English Cities Fund, a partnership between Muse, Legal and General, and Homes England, working alongside <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/stockport-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Stockport council<\/a> and Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Across the town centre, a \u00a31bn investment has been made to turn it into a bustling hub where people want to live, work and hang out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">This includes big plans for the east of Stockport town centre, where a 280-acre site has been earmarked for the next step in the huge transformation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In total, around 8,000 homes could
