Meloni rebuked Israel\u2019s wartime conduct more broadly in her most critical comments to date, calling the killing of civilians\u00a0 \u201cunacceptable.\u201d Rome is yet to recognize Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>The U.N. has warned that Israel is blocking sufficient aid from reaching Gaza, where a growing number of starvation-related deaths have been reported. \u201cPeople in Gaza are neither dead nor alive, they are walking corpses,\u201d said Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the\u00a0U.N.\u00a0Relief and Works Agency.<\/p>\n<p>However, Israel denies it is orchestrating a blockade of the war-torn territory. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/israel-blames-un-for-gaza-aid-failures\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/israel-blames-un-for-gaza-aid-failures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview with POLITICO on Thursday<\/a>, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar\u00a0insisted that \u201cthe problem is the U.N. is not distributing\u201d aid.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/13150453-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6959130\"  \/>The U.N. has warned that Israel is blocking sufficient aid from reaching Gaza. | Mohammed Saber\/EPA<\/p>\n<p>The EU\u2019s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, announced a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/eu-gaza-aid-israel-palestine-kaja-kallas-war\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deal<\/a>\u00a0with Israel earlier this month to let more aid trucks into Gaza.
