The Canadian <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/sport\/tennis\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">tennis<\/a> ace took to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/instagram\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a> to share a video with her 349,000 followers, encouraging them to slide into her DMs as she tends to stay away from dating <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/apps\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">apps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The 22-year-old addressed them by writing: \u201cThis will be fun, right? This isn\u2019t a joke. I fully intend to go on a date in Montreal so go ahead and DM me\u2026 time to shoot your shot. PS: you may have to meet my dad beforehand (good luck with that).\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">She elaborated on her bizarre &#8216;competition&#8217; in a follow-up clip, saying: &#8220;In Montreal, I would like to go on a date. You know what I really want to do and that I haven&#8217;t done is going on a date. I am not a big fan of dating apps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cSo, I actually am gonna do things my way. I am gonna go on one date for one hour in Montreal. If you wanna be my date, DM me, let me know about yourself. See you there!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Fernandez, who according to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/leylah-fernandez\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"ForbesLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Forbes<\/a> had earned $6.5million (\u00a34.8m) last year as the 18th highest-paid female athlete, later offered an update after getting past rising Australian star Maya Joint in her opening round match at the Citi Open in Washington DC. &#8220;There\u2019ve been a lot of responses,\u201d said the former World No. 13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cI think the first day, there were maybe over 100 messages. I\u2019ve got a lot of options. My dad point blank asked me if I\u2019d gone on a date yet, and I told him I hadn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;I\u2019ve never really had the time, and no one\u2019s really asked me, which, I don\u2019t know why! The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">world<\/a> No. 36 easily defeated Great Britain&#8217;s Hannah Klugman with a 6-1 6-3 victory in the opening round, reports <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/sport\/tennis\/2084048\/Wimbledon-Leylah-Fernandez-date-Montreal\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"the ExpressLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">However, she suffered an unexpected second round exit after losing to Laura Siegemund in straight sets, 6-2 6-3. However, she set up a round-of-16 clash with world No. 4 Jessica Pegula by beating Joint.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The hard-court tournament could provide Fernandez with an opportunity to find her groove before she heads back to Montreal.
