Bristol-based non-profit Saffron has launched a new music equipment-sharing initiative.\nSaffron’s Tech Library is available to anyone based in or around Bristol and offers industry-standard audio equipment at affordable rental prices. The full collection\u2014which includes mixers, drum machines, synthesizers, microphones, condensers, CDJs and more\u2014is available at the Tech Library’s headquarters in Stokes Croft. All items can be booked online, with most available at daily rates. <\/p>\n
Much of the Tech Library’s stock has been sourced from the Bristol community\u2014Audio-Tecnica also donated select equipment to the initiative. Per Saffron founder Laura Lewis-Paul, the project’s main goal is to break down financial barriers for emerging DJs who may not be able to afford brand-new gear. <\/p>\n
\u201cMusic tech has always felt like a club for those who can afford the gear\u2014but it shouldn\u2019t be that way,” Lewis-Paul shared in a statement. “Talent isn\u2019t defined by privilege. Everyone deserves access to the tools to create, experiment, and be heard.” <\/p>\n
