{"id":289588,"date":"2025-07-25T03:47:31","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T03:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/289588\/"},"modified":"2025-07-25T03:47:31","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T03:47:31","slug":"motorbike-thief-rides-wrong-way-over-roundabout-in-dramatic-police-chase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/289588\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorbike thief rides wrong way over roundabout in dramatic police chase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He led police on an elaborate chase through Bristol<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_Winterstoke-crash.jpg\" alt=\"Sonny Kennedy\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Sonny Kennedy(Image: Avon and Somerset Police)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A motorcyclist who rode the wrong way around a roundabout on a stolen bike to avoid arrest has admitted to a host of driving offences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Sonny Kennedy, of Hellier Walk, was seen by police officers riding a Husqvarna motorbike, which had been reported as stolen earlier this month, along Winterstoke Road on Monday, July 21.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He did not stop for officers and a chase began.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Kennedy rode the wrong way around a roundabout at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/hengrove\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hengrove<\/a> Way and into oncoming traffic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He crashed during his escape attempt when he swerved to avoid a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Officers stopped the pursuit as a result of Kennedy&#8217;s dangerous driving and neighbourhood police officers arrived to arrest him, after administering first aid at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He was interviewed, charged, and remanded in custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The 21-year-old appeared at Bristol Magistrates&#8217; Court on Wednesday, July 23 and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop for a police officer, for driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a license, and for using a motor vehicle on a public road without third party insurance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Kennedy was remanded back into custody and is due to be sentenced at Bristol Magistrates&#8217; Court on Tuesday, August 12.
