A Co Antrim dad-of-three has scooped a car and cash prize worth more than \u00a3100,000.<\/p>\n
Simon Lloyd won the \u00a382,840 Volkswagen Touareg R eHybrid and \u00a320,000 cash courtesy of online competition firm BOTB just days after celebrating his 50th birthday.<\/p>\n
The Ballyclare<\/a> man, who works as a project manager for an energy company, was ‘stunned’ when BOTB presenter Christian Williams knocked on his door to reveal he had won the company\u2019s latest ‘Dream Car Competition’.<\/p>\n READ MORE: TripAdvisor rank two NI tours in the ‘top experiences’ in the UK for 2025<\/a>READ MORE: Biffy Clyro to return to Belfast with big gig at SSE Arena next year<\/a><\/p>\n He said: \u201cI thought it was the postman!.. What a delivery! I need to compose myself \u2013 I\u2019m absolutely blown away.<\/p>\n \u201cYou always daydream about these sorts of competitions when you enter them, but then you forget about it. To actually win \u2013 it\u2019s surreal.\u201d<\/p>\n Simon added: \u201cI\u2019ve always loved the Touareg \u2013 it looks classy,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is going to take my daily commute to a whole new level. I can\u2019t believe there\u2019s one here with my name on it.\u201d<\/p>\n Simon admitted he\u2019s considering the cash alternative. \u201cI would love to take the car. It ticks all the boxes, but the money will provide so many opportunities for me and my family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cI have twin girls who are heading to university in September, so I\u2019ll be able to put some money aside for them. They\u2019ve recently passed their driving tests too, so I\u2019ll be able to get them a runaround.<\/p>\n \u201cIt would also be nice to use some on a holiday, and hopefully there\u2019ll be enough left over to get a cool car for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n After revealing the car, the BOTB team opened the boot to reveal \u00a320,000 in cash. \u201cThis is life-changing,\u201d Simon said. \u201cI think I\u2019m going to need a strong cup of tea after this!\u201d<\/p>\n Presenter Christian said: \u201cSimon was such a brilliant winner \u2013 genuinely shocked and such a lovely guy. And with his birthday just over the weekend, the timing couldn\u2019t have been better. What a present!<\/p>\n \u201cThe Touareg R is an awesome bit of kit and one of the nicest places you can sit behind the wheel.\u201d<\/p>\n Co-presenter Katie Knight, who joined Christian on the surprise reveal, added: \u201cYou could see just how much the surprise meant to Simon. It\u2019s one of those moments that reminds you why we love doing this \u2013 seeing people\u2019s dreams come true.\u201d<\/p>\n Simon added: \u201cThe whole thing has been a fantastic experience.
