{"id":289933,"date":"2025-07-25T06:56:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T06:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/289933\/"},"modified":"2025-07-25T06:56:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T06:56:09","slug":"edinburgh-heritage-charity-names-next-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/289933\/","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh heritage charity names next director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Terry Levinthal has been appointed to lead the charity set up to promote and protect Edinburgh\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n<p>He takes over as director of Edinburgh World Heritage (EWH) from Megan Veronesi, who has held the post on an interim basis since January. <\/p>\n<p>Levinthal joins in September from Scotland conservation charity Cockburn Association, where he held the same role. His previous roles include a stint as director of conservation services and projects at the National Trust for Scotland. He has also led the Scottish Civic Trust.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with great pleasure that we welcome Terry into this crucial role at EWH,\u201d said the charity\u2019s chair Douglas Brotherston.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe brings with him a wealth of experience, contacts, and a commitment to heritage demonstrated throughout his career. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis arrival heralds a transformative period for Edinburgh\u2019s World Heritage Site and its preservation and enhancement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cWe are grateful to Megan Veronesi for her seamless leadership as interim director.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Levinthal said: \u201cAfter a career dedicated to Scotland\u2019s unique architectural, historic and landscape heritage, I am delighted to be taking on this important role to protect Edinburgh\u2019s Old and New Towns World Heritage Site. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI join at a critical juncture for the city and I\u2019m excited to use my role to champion Edinburgh\u2019s heritage first and foremost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Terry Levinthal has been appointed to lead the charity set up to promote and protect Edinburgh\u2019s heritage.
