Sheffield Wednesday have suffered a horrid summer due to owner Dejphon Chansiri\u2019s financial mismanagement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Thai businessperson failed to pay wages to playing staff on time in May and June, which brought forward EFL sanctions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Established players such as Josh Windass and Michael Smith have cancelled their contracts as a result, and confusion still swirls<\/a> over Danny Rohl\u2019s future at the club.<\/p>\n

There appeared to be light at the end of the tunnel for Wednesday<\/a> supporters, as a prospective takeover seemed to be<\/a> gaining momentum.<\/p>\n

That now appears to have fallen through<\/a>, which is a hammer blow for the Owls\u2019 faithful, who were hoping that change was finally on the horizon.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively<\/strong> to Football League World, Sky Sports pundit and former EFL striker, Don Goodman, believes that a lack of concrete takeover talk is a cause for concern at Hillsborough.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I were a Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> fan, I’d be really worried at this point,\u201d stated Goodman.<\/p>\n

\u201cLosing players like Josh Windass and Michael Smith on a free transfer then being placed under a transfer embargo for three transfer windows isn\u2019t what they needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve got an owner that seems to be lost, struggling financially, not paying wages, not paying bills, it’s just a massive mess.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think it’s a really attractive club for somebody to buy, but whether the valuation of Wednesday by the current owner is realistic enough may be the reason that things are not moving forward regarding a takeover, so it is a real concern.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taking over a football club is generally a long, drawn-out process with many complicated factors that have to be agreed upon.<\/p>\n

Chansiri\u2019s valuation of the Owls seems to be somewhat of a sticking point during negotiations, but with rumoured interest<\/a> from other parties, the Thai businessperson must be increasingly open to a sale as weeks go by.<\/p>\n

Time is running out for Wednesday to fully focus on the 2025\/26 Championship campaign, and they go into the season facing an uphill battle against relegation.<\/p>\n\n\n

There isn\u2019t much the Steel City side can do now to avoid that fight with the new season shortly upon us, but a takeover could provide supporters with a renewed optimism that positive times could be on the horizon once more.<\/p>\n
