MCI Developments wants to take the long stretch of land bounded by the canal, just a short distance from Castleton, and transform it into a residential space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Originally the proposal was for 162 homes, but the plans have since been scaled back slightly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The homes would all have private gardens and surround public open space as well as a children\u2019s play park, if plans are approved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Sign up to the MEN Politics newsletter Due North <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=e29ee8c7-06ed-4603-a342-72fd4cc91649&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"hereLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The applicant stated that the homes would all be available at an affordable rate (up to 80 per cent of market value).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The 24 two-bedroom homes will be apartments in addition to another 24 three-bedroom apartments. The remainder will be provided as family-sized homes as a mixture of detached, semi-detached, and terraced houses with three, four and five bedrooms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The majority of the houses would stand at 2-storeys in height, whilst 23 would stand at 2.5-storeys in height.
