It took until 10 years later for the <strong>Museum of the Jewellery Quarter<\/strong> to open, preserving all this.<\/p>\n<p>The museum opened in 1992, and teaches us not only the history of the jewellery workshop, but the <strong>200-year story of Birmingham\u2019s Jewellery Quarter<\/strong> and its traditional craft skills. Sadly, it\u2019s been closed for maintenance for the last five years, but that\u2019s changing this <a href=\"https:\/\/secretbirmingham.com\/things-to-do-birmingham-weekend\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretbirmingham.com\/things-to-do-birmingham-weekend\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_0\" data-category=\"click_internal\">weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18155\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/MJQ-76.jpg\" alt=\"Museum of the Jewellery Quarter\" width=\"1080\" height=\"719\"  \/>Credit: Museum of the Jewellery Quarter <\/p>\n<p>As part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejewelleryquarter.org\/festival\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/www.thejewelleryquarter.org\/festival\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_1\" data-category=\"click_non_sales\">Jewellery Quarter Festival<\/a>, The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter will be opening its doors to the public on <strong>Saturday, July 26<\/strong>. During this <strong>pop-up reopening<\/strong>, visitors will be able to explore the historic Smith &amp; Pepper factory and the Story of the Jewellery Quarter gallery display.<\/p>\n<p>Very few changes have been made to the working practices, equipment or the appearance of the workshop\u2014although the building has <strong>undergone essential repairs since 2020<\/strong>\u2014with advanced tickets for the pop-up event available to book online now. The aim is to follow this with a<strong> phased reopening<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18156\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/MJQ-68.jpg\" alt=\"Museum of the Jewellery Quarter\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\"  \/>Credit: Museum of the Jewellery Quarter <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to be opening our doors on the day of The Jewellery Quarter Festival, an annual celebration of the vibrant spirit of Birmingham\u2019s Jewellery Quarter,\u201d said Rob Lewis, Director of Transformation at Birmingham Museums Trust. \u201cThis is a significant milestone, as the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter has been closed to the public since March 2020.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets are discounted for this one-off open day<\/strong>, too. Costing \u00a36.50 for an adult, \u00a35 for a concession (excluding over 60s) and\u00a33 for a child (age 3 \u2013 15). It\u2019s free for Birmingham Museums Members.
