Move over, Siri and Alexa. Matthew Lawrence<\/a> believes that his late Mrs. Doubtfire<\/a> costar Robin Williams<\/a> should be the next \u201cvoice of AI.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The actor, who played one of the children nannied by Williams\u2019 titular Mrs. Doubtfire in the 1993 comedy, tells Entertainment Weekly that he would love to use artificial intelligence to \u201cdo something really special\u201d with the late comedian\u2019s voice.\u00a0Williams died by suicide at 63<\/a> in 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love \u2014\u00a0now, obviously, with the respect and with the okay from his family \u2014\u00a0but I would love to do something really special with his voice because I know for a generation, that voice is just so iconic,\u201d Lawrence shares in EW’s\u00a0Comic-Con<\/a>\u00a0video suite on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not just the fact that I knew him and worked with him and so it\u2019s in my head \u2014 it\u2019s in everybody\u2019s head. And it would be so cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

The idea came to Lawrence after watching one of Williams\u2019 old commercials and realizing that it contained some interesting present-day parallels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kinda like this very contemporary, modern, almost sort of foreshadowing of what\u2019s going on commercial that he did,\u00a0where he did this computerized voiceover,\u201d he explains. \u201cAnd it always stuck with me. And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I\u2019m like, \u2018Man, he\u2019s gotta be the voice of A.I. He\u2019s gotta be the voice in something.\u2019 So yeah, I would love to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The uses for the program are potentially endless, including having Williams become the helpful voice giving you driving directions on your phone. \u201cIt would be Robin!\u201d Lawrence cheers. \u201cIt would be so cool. I\u2019m telling you.\u201d<\/p>\n

When speaking with EW in April, Lawrence explained that Williams taught him two really important life lessons during the film’s production: the \u201ctype of compassion you need to have for people,\u201d and how you “don’t judge until you walk in someone else’s shoes.”<\/p>\n

He continued, “He really quantified what it was to be a real artist for me in the sense that he was definitely, and I worked with some great people, and he was definitely the most brilliant artist I’ve ever worked with. But on top of that, he had the compassion, he had the humility, and he also had these things that he struggled with.”<\/p>\n
