Gerhard Struber insists \u201cthe door is open\u201d for Bristol City<\/a> to make further additions to their squad during the remainder of the summer transfer window, but the Reds\u2019 head coach is adamant the Robins will prioritise the \u201cright\u201d signings over adding needless new faces.<\/p>\n City had a busy start to the summer window following Struber\u2019s appointment as head coach, with all of Adam Randell, Joe Lumley, and Emil Riis arriving at Ashton Gate<\/a> within the first two weeks of the Austrian\u2019s tenure. However, since Riis\u2019 move was confirmed on June 30, the only movement around Ashton Gate has been outgoing.<\/p>\n Marcus McGuane<\/a> became the latest player to depart BS3 earlier this week when he completed a permanent move to Huddersfield Town. Even with the midfielder\u2019s exit confirmed, the Reds\u2019 squad remains on the larger side, as demonstrated by the fact that two separate sides will be utilised across this weekend\u2019s double-header of pre-season friendlies.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Report: Bristol City held by Cheltenham Town in first pre-season clash of double-header weekend<\/a>READ MORE: Gerhard Struber details Bristol City’s ‘to-do list’ after Robins’ friendly draw with Cheltenham<\/a><\/p>\n Steve Lansdown confirmed in an interview during last season\u2019s play-off campaign that the Robins wouldn\u2019t \u201cgo wild\u201d<\/a> in the market this summer, and it was understood, prior to McGuane’s departure at least, that outgoings were a priority for City before further incomings.<\/p>\n In spite of both those points, Struber admits that the Reds are still looking for potential new additions.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course, we look at what\u2019s going on in the market and what\u2019s possible,\u201d the head coach told Bristol Live<\/a> following Friday\u2019s draw with Cheltenham Town. \u201cI think we see at the moment a team with, I would say, a very, very good quality, but when we find on the market something where we could be in the end a little bit more unpredictable, in all directions, then the door is open.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are searching, but we do not have the pressure right now to do something very quickly.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course, we want the right one,\u201d Struber continued. \u201cThis is, I think, super important that we are not thinking that we need to bring manpower in, and then in the end we have 30 players. We need the right players, this is super important, from the character, from the mentality, but also, of course, from the quality.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we have a good roster at the moment, but again, we have the eyes and the ears open, and when something knocks on our door, then the door will go open.\u201d<\/p>\n On paper, Struber\u2019s ranks appear to be well stocked in both central midfield and defence.
