Hendrie is urging Birmingham City to make their move.

Hendrie stated: “With the Vardy situation, it’s baffling, isn’t it? You listen and read what he wants to do, with talk of him wanting to stay and play in a top European side.

“I think it would be a big signing for Birmingham City, there’s no doubt, I still think he can do a job, the only problem with Jamie Vardy is he’s one of those players that if he did go to Birmingham, he’d want to be and have to be the main striker.

“They’ve got strength in depth in that area, you certainly have to look at that, but I don’t think he’ll be one of those players that will be dropping down to the Championship and being a bit-part player, I think he’ll want to be the key player and that would be the big question mark.

“The age is always another question mark but Jamie Vardy is Jamie Vardy. He’s always capable of scoring goals, and it just shows where Birmingham are at with who they’re attracting.”

Jamie Vardy signing would go against what Phil Parkinson is building at Wrexham

The Vardy to Wrexham narrative has been building all summer, however, Parkinson’s recent transfer activity shows that the England international would not be high on his list.

The Red Dragons boss is securing players that are ready to make an impact in the Championship but can also provide long-term stability for the club.

Jamie Vardy’s Championship record

Appearances

Goals

Assists

Vardy

98

38

16

Jamie Vardy’s Championship record via Transfermarkt – correct as of 26/07/2025

Three-year contracts have been handed out to the likes of Lewis O’Brien and George Thomason in the hope that they can contribute to the present and future success of the club.

At 38, it would be a backward step from Wrexham to sign Vardy, given the very limited number of years he can contribute to the club at the top level.

The club are looking to sign another striker, but don’t be surprised if it is a player that once again has their best years ahead of them.

Wrexham fans cannot wait for the new season to begin following a flurry of transfer activity.
