The United Nations World Food Program <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfp.org\/news\/wfp-food-trucks-keep-moving-inside-gaza-hunger-deepens-and-restrictions-persist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has warned<\/a> that almost one in three people in the Gaza Strip are going for days without eating.<\/p>\n<p>Airdrops to Gaza have been criticized for being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2024\/mar\/30\/death-at-any-moment-fights-break-out-as-gazans-compete-over-airdropped-aid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dangerous<\/a> and inefficient.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Starmer has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/germany-merz-uk-starmer-stance-israel-palestine-france-macron\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/germany-merz-uk-starmer-stance-israel-palestine-france-macron\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">facing growing calls<\/a> to recognize Palestinian statehood. A third of British MPs, including some of his own Cabinet ministers, have signed a letter calling for the U.K. to recognize a Palestinian state.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister said that &#8220;recognition of a Palestinian state has to be one of those steps&#8221; to achieve peace in the region, although &#8220;it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/politics\/keir-starmer-the-humanitarian-catastrophe-35620386\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/politics\/keir-starmer-the-humanitarian-catastrophe-35620386\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">must be part of a wider plan<\/a> that ultimately results in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/07\/25\/mark-carney-israel-gaza-aid-flow-humanitarian-disaster-00476658\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/07\/25\/mark-carney-israel-gaza-aid-flow-humanitarian-disaster-00476658\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two-state solution<\/a> and lasting security for Palestinians and Israelis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>French President Emmanuel Macron said this week that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-palestine-statehood-emmanuel-macron-middle-east-war-gaza\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-palestine-statehood-emmanuel-macron-middle-east-war-gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">France intends to recognize<\/a> a Palestinian state in September at the U.N.
