Liverpool<\/a> have hit a potential stumbling block as they try to raise funds for Alexander Isak<\/a>, who could cost as much as \u00a3150million this summer. Despite already bringing in striker Hugo Ekitike for \u00a379m, Isak\u2019s bombshell revelation has put the Reds back in the market as Newcastle<\/a> refuse to meet their talisman\u2019s contract demands of \u00a3300,000 a week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot\u2019s<\/a> outfit have shown willingness to pay such figures this summer, putting Florian Wirtz<\/a> on similar money following his capture from Bayer Leverkusen. They are yet to package a formal offer to Newcastle<\/a>, but those involved expect it to be forthcoming.<\/p>\n

Bayern are set to return with a deal worth \u00a365m, below Liverpool<\/a>\u2019s valuation still, and according to Foot Mercato<\/a> are confident of getting that move wrapped up.<\/p>\n

Their optimism may be caused by Barcelona\u2019s public admission that they are no longer pursuing Diaz. After being turned down by Nico Williams, the La Liga<\/a> giants turned to Marcus Rashford<\/a> on loan instead.<\/p>\n

Having brought the Manchester United<\/a> man in, club president Joan Laporta said that there would be no more incomings.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve hit all our targets for the upcoming season,\u201d Laporta told Mundo Deportivo<\/a>. \u201cIn principle, there won\u2019t be any more signings now. We have a good squad and a coach who wants to bolster the first team when necessary with youngsters from the reserve team.\u201d<\/p>\n

That statement means that Liverpool<\/a> can no longer leverage their interest in negotiations with Bayern for Diaz.<\/p>\n

Vincent Kompany\u2019s<\/a> side are fully aware that they are the only team trying to sign Diaz. They do not have to increase their bid in fear of being gazumped by a rival.<\/p>\n

Bayern can sit and wait for Liverpool<\/a> to lower their price, perhaps growing increasingly desperate for cash to fund a move for Isak.<\/p>\n
