{"id":295050,"date":"2025-07-27T04:53:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-27T04:53:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/295050\/"},"modified":"2025-07-27T04:53:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-27T04:53:14","slug":"frances-elena-colas-great-britains-evan-mcphillips-lead-their-countries-to-five-golds-each-at-european-youth-olympic-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/295050\/","title":{"rendered":"France\u2019s Elena Colas, Great Britain\u2019s Evan McPhillips lead their countries to five golds each at European Youth Olympic Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>France\u2019s <strong>Elena Colas<\/strong> and Great Britain\u2019s<strong> Evan McPhillips<\/strong> captured the all-around titles and led their countries to five golds each in the gymnastics competition at the European Youth Olympic Festival that ended Saturday in Osijek, Croatia.<\/p>\n<p>France earned gold in five of the six girls\u2019 finals, while Great Britain won five of the eight boys\u2019 finals and France took the mixed team final.<\/p>\n<p>Colas scored 53.75 to earn the girls\u2019 all-around gold over Slovakia\u2019s <strong>Lucia Piliarova<\/strong> (51.95), who claimed silver, and Romania\u2019s <strong>Alexia Blanaru<\/strong> (51.35), who took bronze.<\/p>\n<p>The 15-year-old Colas, a native of Chambray-L\u00e8s-Tours, won all-around gold, tied for gold on uneven bars and took bronze on vault at last year\u2019s Junior European Championships in Rimini. Earlier this year she won the junior all-around title at the International Gymnix competition in Montreal and captured her second consecutive all-around gold at the French Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>By a margin of just 0.10, McPhillips won the boys\u2019 all-around (78.60), ahead of silver medalist <strong>Ivan Rigon<\/strong> of Italy (78.50) and bronze medalist <strong>Uzair Chowdhury<\/strong> of Great Britain (77.45).<\/p>\n<p>McPhillips, a 17-year-old native of Bolton, England, trains at City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics. He was a member of the gold medal-winning British team at last year\u2019s Junior European Championships in Rimini.
