Tyler, The Creator<\/a> has released a clean version of \u2018Don\u2019t Tap the Glass\u2019 after a request from a fan.<\/p>\n

The rapper released his ninth studio album on Monday<\/a> (July 21), after announcing it the previous Friday<\/a> during a concert in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

Now, he\u2019s shared a clean version of the record, after a fan on Twitter\/X requested it. \u201cYO @tylerthecreator are you gonna put out a clean version? my lil brother tryna dance too,\u201d they wrote earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Tyler responded hours later, saying he was \u201con it.\u201d Then, yesterday (July 25), he followed up saying: \u201cDone\u201d, then separately posting: \u201cDONT TAP THE GLASS clean version OUT NOW.\u201d<\/p>\n

Explaining the ethos of \u2018Don\u2019t Tap The Glass\u2019, Tyler wrote on Instagram today that it was inspired by his friends choosing not to dance in public \u201cbecause of the fear of being filmed\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme, all for having a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n

NME gave \u2018Don\u2019t Tap the Glass\u2019 four stars, in a review that read<\/a>: \u201cShedding the cinematic sprawl and narrative pathos of last year\u2019s \u2018Chromakopia\u2019, Tyler steps away from the character-driven framing of Wolf Haley or Sir Baudelaire.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe paranoia and parasocial tension explored on that record still linger \u2013 but beneath cartoonish \u201980s rap armour. It\u2019s part Kurtis Blow and part LL Cool J, encased in a clear Perspex chamber like a collector\u2019s action figure. Instead of inviting connection, Tyler shields himself behind the glass: a museum piece for dance and display only.\u201d<\/p>\n

The LP serves as a follow-up to \u2018Chromakopia\u2019,\u00a0which landed at number 44 on\u00a0NME\u2018s best albums of 2024 list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll launch the tour in Tokyo on September 9, followed by dates in Seoul, Manila and Bangkok. Through the Asia trek, Tyler will be supported by\u00a0former\u00a0NME\u00a0Cover stars Paris Texas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In May,\u00a0NME\u00a0caught him live in London,\u00a0giving his performance a glowing five-star review<\/a>\u00a0which read: \u201cAs Tyler wishes us a farewell, he remains humble, but tonight is no small feat. With outfit changes, multiple stages and live vocals front-and-centre, Tyler flips through his eras like a masterclass in fearless reinvention.<\/p>\n
