Manchester United got off the mark this pre-season with a win against West Ham United on their USA tour, but gaping holes in the team remain. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Matheus Cunha has impressed<\/a> onlookers in both his appearances so far, while Bryan Mbeumo\u2019s Man Utd debut<\/a> has been delayed by Ruben Amorim<\/a> since he joined later than the Brazilian.<\/p>\n

These two players add proven attacking quality to a team that was allergic to goals in the league last season, but United\u2019s financial condition<\/a> leaves the rest of the window tricky to navigate. <\/p>\n

However, Fabrizio Romano still says that Man Utd<\/a> are now \u2018very convinced\u2019 that they will make the addition Ruben Amorim is desperate for the most. <\/p>\n

United kicked off the window in style by securing Cunha\u2019s signature at the start of June, but the Mbeumo negotiations<\/a> reflected the reality of the club\u2019s finances. <\/p>\n

Now that close to \u00a3130m has been committed to the pair, United are in a tricky position where, ideally, they need to sell to buy. <\/p>\n

Marcus Rashford\u2019s exit is a big boost due to savings on his wages, but the path for the rest of the four players unwanted by Amorim is uncertain, to put it kindly. <\/p>\n

Still, Romano says that United are feeling optimistic about giving Amorim a player in the position he needs the most. <\/p>\n

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast with Fabrizio Romano on YouTube, the Italian journalist said, \u201cMan Utd will be active on the opportunities to bring in a striker next week. <\/p>\n

\u201cMan Utd will get a new striker because they are very convinced about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Music to Ruben Amorim\u2019s ears<\/p>\n

This update means that Amorim has privately been promised that a new striker will arrive, which would be music to Amorim\u2019s ears. <\/p>\n

The Man Utd manager<\/a> has been very supportive of the club\u2019s efforts so far in the window, refusing to get into flinging passive-aggressive battles in the press. <\/p>\n

It helps that the club have added 35 Premier League goals to his team before pre-season, but the striker was a gaping hole. <\/p>\n

Liam Delap was expected to fill that hole<\/a>, but his rejection sent United\u2019s window into a tailspin<\/a>, forcing a reevaluation of plans and targets. <\/p>\n
