target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/germany\/index.html\" id=\"mol-650a6b00-6b2c-11f0-ab34-df37028bc6f1\" rel=\"noopener\">Germany<\/a>,\u00a0spilling two carriages from the tracks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The regional train in the southwest was carrying about 100 passengers of which several were seriously injured, police confirmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Two carriages left the tracks between the towns of Riedlingen and Munderkingen, near the corner of Germany that borders <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/france\/index.html\" id=\"mol-650a1ce0-6b2c-11f0-ab34-df37028bc6f1\" rel=\"noopener\">France<\/a>\u00a0and Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Helicopters arrived shortly after the accident to transport the injured to hospitals in the area, and emergency doctors from nearby hospitals were alerted, according to local TV station SWR.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The train was on a roughly 90 km (55 miles) route between Sigmaringen and Ulm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The cause of the crash is under investigation, which happened &#8216;for reasons yet unknown&#8217;, according to the rail operator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Reports say that a landslide may have causes the crash as there had been severe storms in the area shortly before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Images of the carriages show they were largely intact but jackknifed into each other and statement there were &#8216;many injured&#8217; and its thoughts were with the victims and their loved ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">It was not clear what had caused the train to derail, it said, adding that it would support the authorities in their investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">German Chancellor Freidrich Merz said he &#8216;mourn[ed] the victims&#8217; and offered his &#8216;deepest sympathy&#8217; to their families in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">He said he was in close contact with the interior and transport
