{"id":297159,"date":"2025-07-28T00:19:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T00:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/297159\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T00:19:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T00:19:10","slug":"3-dead-dozens-injured-after-passenger-train-derails-in-southern-germany-world-news-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/297159\/","title":{"rendered":"3 dead, dozens injured after passenger train derails in southern Germany &#8211; World News &#8211; News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At least three people were killed and numerous others were critically injured when a regional <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/news\/us-news\/162485\/east-palestine-train-derailment-chemicals-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passenger train derailed<\/a> in <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/latest\/germany\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">southern Germany<\/a> on Sunday, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Federal and local police said the cause of the crash near Riedlingen, roughly 158 kilometers (98 miles) west of Munich, remains under investigation. Photos from the scene showed parts of the train on its side as rescuers climbed atop the carriages.<\/p>\n<p>It was not immediately clear how many people were injured. Roughly 100 people were onboard the train when at least two carriages derailed in a forested area around 6:10 p.m. (1610 GMT). Storms passed through the area before the crash and investigators were seeking to determine if the <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/news\/world-news\/178365\/terrifying-video-shows-smoke-spewing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rain was a factor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>There have been heavy rains here, so it cannot be ruled out that the heavy rain and a related landslide accident may have been the cause.
