An Oasis fan who took his six-year-old to the Oasis gig at Wembley on Friday (July 25) has said the atmosphere was ‘banging’ and that his son was treated ‘like a celebrity’.<\/p>\n

Luke Downing, from Walsall, decided to take his son Luca to the Wembley gig rather than Heaton Park<\/a> for fear the standing section might be too much for him. Luke also attended the gig at Heaton Park on July 11 with his partner.<\/p>\n

“We were a bit unsure about Luca, ’cause he’s so young,” he told the M.E.N. “We weren’t sure if he would last the gig and tried to time it so he didn’t fall asleep.<\/p>\n

“But he was absolutely buzzing and he sat through the whole thing, including the support acts, and knew the music too. He was in his absolute element.<\/p>\n

“He was flagging a bit in the slower sections but he was stood up on his seat dancing for most of it. We weren’t sure how many songs he would know but he was singing his heart out to pretty much every song. The atmosphere was banging.<\/p>\n

“He got a lot of attention from people around us cause he’s so little. Everyone around us was cool, wanting to help, take our picture and make sure we had a good time. He was treated like a celebrity.”<\/p>\n

Although Luke describes himself as a ‘massive’ Oasis fan, who has seen the band seven or eight times, he insists he never forced his son into Oasis. “It’s like your favourite football team – you hope they’ll support it but you don’t want to force them.<\/p>\n

“He’s always had a massive music taste – he used to be more into the Specials and ska, but has really got into Oasis. The Gallaghers need to know that the next generation have it in hand.”<\/p>\n

He added: “Wembley was special cause we took our lad and it was his first ever gig. But I preferred Heaton Park – it was just brilliant.<\/p>\n

“Part of it might be the magic of it being Manchester and it being their home town – where they’re from. It was raving hot and the atmosphere could easily have been a drag, ’cause everyone was too hot – but it was just buzzing.<\/p>\n

“Wembley was amazing too and if you’re into the acoustics then you’d probably prefer that. They were both completely different gigs.<\/p>\n

“But if what you want from Oasis is the energy and the passion, it was Heaton Park for me.”<\/p>\n

The band are due to play three more dates in London – July 30 and August 2 and 3 – before taking their tour to Edinburgh, Dublin and then North America.<\/p>\n
