Labour MP Jess Phillips was among the ladies in red who took to the streets to celebrate the music of Kate Bush.<\/p>\n
She took part in The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever in Birmingham<\/a> – part of a worldwide phenomenon where fans recreate the music video for the singer’s 1978 hit Wuthering Heights.<\/p>\n Scores of women performed the choreography featured in the video – donning the now-cherished crimson gown.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Factory fire live as 17 crews rush to huge blaze<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Previous gatherings have taken place in destinations including Sydney, Copenhagen and Berlin. The celebrations traditionally happen in late July to mark Bush’s birthday on July 30.<\/p>\n The event today, Sunday, July 27, saw Phillips, MP for Birmingham Yardley<\/a>, deliver an opening address championing Birmingham-based women’s charities outside The Heath Bookshop in Kings Heath<\/a>, winner of the Independent Bookshop of the Year 2025.<\/p>\n Owner Claire Dawes said: “We knew this would be a great event to hold in Birmingham and especially in Kings Heath as the local community support the many arts events that happen here and always support charity events.”<\/p>\n Catherine Gale, also from the store, said: “I am a huge Kate Bush fan and so when we opened the shop a friend beautifully upcycled a coffee table for us with a photo of Kate Bush and the pages of Charlotte Bronte’s Wuthering Heights covering it.<\/p>\n “The event really is open to everyone, you can do as much or as little of the dance as you like and all ages, genders and abilities are welcome.
